Hey everybody!

So I'm trying to write a paper to earn some scholarship money for college. Only problem is, I can't think of any good ideas. Here's the premise: In 200 years a relative of mine is going to dig up something in my back yeard. This item needs to solve all of their financial worries.
However, there are some criteria.
1. It must be available in a store today
2. It must cost less than $500

So, what can be bought relatively cheaply now but will be worth a lot in the future?

Thanks for the help!

A can of oil. The way we keep getting scare mongered about it we should have run out of the stuff by then..

HAH go look up what the collectors value of old video games is and buy one of the $500 ones, it'll probably be the only remaining copy in existence in 200 years.

A small tank of gasoline? Or a jug of raw oil? Seeing as the prices are going to sky-rocket as supplies of natural oil run low, that would make sense, I guess. Just buy some at a gas station and bury it.

A water purifier with seeds in a lead container

Why?

Water and safe seeds are good to have in the post nuclear holocaust.

Just bury a handheld system or something

I bet a Gameboy Color is gonna be really rare in 2210

...they might look at it and be like "wtf is this piece of junk?" though...

Some DNA from an animal that will probably be endangered soon. They could clone it.

An iPod with a wide variety of today's music. The music industry is dying, you know? So, there might not even BE ANY MUSIC soon. I'm still foggy on why... But that's what everyone from buisness people to music majors are telling me. So.. I think that would be something good.

That would probably be worth a lot, but I don't think I could buy that in a store for $500

A history book. By then I'm guessing history would be warped so much that it would be so far from the truth that it's useless. He could change how the world sees the past with one textbook.

A list of scams and how they work. There are still going to be idiots in the future and who knows, maybe the future people won't know about Nigerian prince scams.

Baseball cards or sports memorabilia in general.

A ski mask and a gun. Out of the two I like this one better.

a flask of air from somewhere relatively unpolluted (antartica for example). Scientists in the future would want it to research etc. Seeds wont really work since there already is a global databank of plant seeds somewhere in a vault thats always in permafrost. DNA is hard to preserve.
