perhaps it was just because i missed the old days of an english arcade but does anyone remember police 24/7? not that old really, it tracked a players movement in infared beams so u could find cover in real time and played like a damn hard version of time crisis, basically what im getting at, without going to the extremes of condemned etc. what has happened to police FPS's?! i mean out gunned, tactical, swat style shizzle, i love that! rainbow six with a six shooter and limited resources, i likie

I always wanted to see a more abstract setting for an FPS. like have the environment inside someone's mind. (kind of like phyconots but a bit grittier) it would also make for some interesting enemies. imagine what somebody's mental demons would look like
DAMN YOU! That was my idea! A more adult version of psychonauts focused on gunplay rather than platforming. Enemies would look different depending upon who the crazy person is. You would probably work for the government un-crazying important people or whatnot. But the thing is, its a government that made them crazy on accident expirementing with AI. They created a gestalt (which you have to also fight throught) and a ghost-like being that possesses people. The gestalt was initialy created by the people you now have to uncrazy and it continues to grow as the ghost-man displaces peoples minds into it while he uses their bodies.

I was always intrigued by playing as the Alien in AVP2. Playing a FPS as some sort of predatorial animal has always seemed like a fantastic idea to me, but so far hasn't been used to its full potential...

After I watched "Falling Down" I was thinking of a cool small-scale suburban warfare game, which would eventually get much larger-scale as the story progressed until some sort of gripping conclusion.

For me, I'd still like to see a better, more in-depth and interesting WWII FPS, with a different setting. More games set in the Eastern Front! Pacific theater! Play as the Axis for once! Historical accuracy and realism! Ugh, at the moment my cries go almost completely unanswered...

I really want a Zombie fps, but with slow zombies instead of the super fast 28 days later zombies (I love the movie, but you can't beat the classic Romero films).

Kind of like City of the Dead.

Too bad it was canceled.

I'm sure that, somewhere out there, someone will make a "slow zombies mod" for Left 4 Dead

I'd also like to see a guerilla warfare style FPS... smaller force of soldiers fighting a larger invading force, using stealth and the environment, booby traps, severing lines of communication, attacking outposts etc. that stuff fascinates me so much. Any real life modern conflict could be used... Iraq, Vietnam, Soviet partisans in WWII. Or of course a sci-fi conflict, human resistance fighters in a world overtaken by aliens or machines, could be awesome.

A massive zombie survival FPS is like a dream, a S.T.A.L.K.E.R-esque game with zombies... it would just be so awesome. A zombie MMOFPS would be just as good, obviously tougher to make though.

There is a game jsut like that out, cant remember for the life of me what its called

The Zombie MMORPG was once drawn up, you started as either a resistance fighter or one of thier dead comerades with a taste for human friends, and fought, killed each other and battled for control of a make believe New york style city. You could turn humans into zombies by biting them (however they could be cured) and zombies back to humans by injecting them with serum (however the med-school graduate zombies could also 'heal' thier zombie friends).

It sounded fun, with a death system revolving around an incapacitation system. Humans get mauled by zombies, they lie there bleeding until they die and zombiefy or get a good old med pack. If a zombie was shot, stabbed, battered or bombed (yes there were plans to include a 'military remenants air strike', they died, until the virus being carried in the saliva of one of thier undead friends re-animated them

There was a whole series of quests (think WOW stlye, kill zombie X 30 times, kill human Y 20 times, find weapons crate A, you get the idea), as well as PVP combat. There were no levels, it was based all on gear, zombies being able to aquire more advanced and dangerous versions of thier diseases, and humans aquiring weapons. However, zombies got more potent diseases (including the ability to spit acid :D) by getting them from human labs, convinently located in the centre of the enemy side of the city, whereas the slightly less dangerous diseases from labs closer and closer to thier base. IE the further you stray into enemy lands, the more dangerous the enemies became, the fewer friends became, but the availability of better weapons increased. On the other hand, Humans had to put up with bricks and 2X4s from thier first base and main city, but could find AT rockets, Light machine guns, and high calaiber sniper rifles in the centre of zombie lands. Original plans showed the Zombies to be MUCH stronger, to compensate with coming up against an M60, but were slightly slower.

I'm not holding my breath, but I always thought it would be awesome to have a Medieval siege-based title in the Battlefield franchise.

With their new-fangled frostbite engine, destructible castle walls and battlements would be feasible. Their class system would work well for the usual Swordsman / Archer / Engineer (building or siege engine operator) / Priest-Apothecary (medic) setup.
Didn't the new LOTR (that's not out yet) do something similar? I can't really remember who made it, but I thought it was the BF people at EA.

Steampunk world, with highly advanced Muskets that can reload really quickly. You can customize your guns with magic for different effects and whatever. Also gives us a double jump ability so you can jump over buildings and such, make it extremely crazy. FPS' are mostly boring in my opinion, since the developers are always inclined to give you a realistic world with realistic physics. Just once I would like to play an FPS game with you being some superhuman badarse that fights huge demons, robots and all that stuff.

One can only dream can't he?

"First they came for the Muslims, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Muslim.
Then they came to detain immigrants indefinitely solely upon the certification of the Attorney General, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't an immigrant.
Then they came to eavesdrop on suspects consulting with their attorneys, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a suspect.
Then they came to prosecute non-citizens before secret military commissions, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a non-citizen.
Then they came to enter homes and offices for unannounced "sneak and peek" searches, and I didn't speak up because I had nothing to hide.
Then they came to reinstate Cointelpro and resume the infiltration and surveillance of domestic religious and political groups, and I didn't speak up because I had stopped participating in any groups.
Then they came for anyone who objected to government policy because it aided the terrorists and gave ammunition to America's enemies, and I didn't speak up because...... I didn't speak up.
Then they came for me....... and by that time no one was left to speak up." - Stephen F. Rohde, Esq

Then the game starts.

Of course I would want this to be set in current times and in the United States. Also I don't want this "one person saves everybody" theme that seems to be so popular. It would have to tackle real issues that are going on, not just ignore them. Present conflicting viewpoints, not everyone would get along, your fellow resistance members would die, if you fail a mission you wouldn't be able to repeat it; you'd have to take a different harder story path. Also you would play your "Average Joe" and that means no prior military knowledge, nor any respect from your team mates, so they won't just elect you leader at the very beginning. But most importantly, the last two paragraphs of what Khell_Sennet said: realistic adult themes and realistic weapon damage.
Oh and by the way, you die at the end without accomplishing your goals.
Hey, sometimes that is how life is...
