disagree with some of their list, loved Lost Planet 2 a lot, played about 40 hours into it, even wrote a review of it.
I was pissed thinking I was getting a game where I fight giant monsters along with my team all over and spent 80% of the game fighting ppl and robots with random monster boss battle. I prob spent most of the game playing the final mission over and over cuz that's how I thought the whole game would be.

I agree with their choices -- Just because you dont, doesnt make them ignorant; It makes them subjectively disagreeable.

I agree with all ten of them, especially FFXIII. Nothing on that list lived up to the expectations they were given, so all of them are completely believeable.

Haha I so agree with Sonic 4, it's good but it doesn't even feel like a Sonic game, he controls SO weird. Which is really a shame because the game is damn beautiful.

Nerd Note: They got the spindash sounds backwards, when you tap the button it makes the launch sound and when you let go it makes the spin sound.

'top 10 most dissopointing games of 2010' :

They put GT5 which they gave 8.5 and my love object Fable 3 which they also gave 8.5 >:/ and alan wake which i thought was a great game.

Almost all the games on this list they gave positive reviews.they said without a doubt FFXII is the most dissopointing game of 2010 but they gave it a 8.9 which is a higher rating than all the other stuff on the list they didnt even put SWTFU2 on it
Your main complaint is based on "they gave this game this score". If you read it again you will see they acknowledge it and answer based on it in the list.

GT5:
IGN scored Gran Turismo a very fitting and great 8.5 ? but, like several games on this list, we question if six years of waiting for a less-than-excellent game is really worth it. Are we disappointed? Youbetcha. But would we be willing to wait another year for that extra polish? Heck no. At least it's finally out, right?
FFXIII
Being merely 'okay' isn't good enough for the Final Fantasy series. These games have a heritage and pedigree to maintain, and thirteen games in, this instalment indeed proved unlucky. The characters are routinely awful and uninteresting, the storytelling is a jumbled mess that meanders through bland subplot ? and then there's the gameplay, which consists of essentially moving in a straight line for the first twenty hours, repeatedly hitting X.
It seems more like this is a case of "people don't like the games I like therefore their arguments are invalid and they are ignorant(how did you even get to this conclusion?)"

I suppose XIII and GT5 already had it in for them before they were even released. Both part of a massive series and both took quite a while to be released, resulting in people having unreasonable expectations. Hype is a terrible thing. Not that I agree with either of them being disappointing. But I suppose that's largely due to ignoring hype, and going into each game with a clean slate.

Final Fantasy hasn't had anything resembling prestige or a pedigree for well over a decade now.

and as for opinions lol it's not a matter of a different person on staff thinking something else, it's a matter of them posting a top 10 list that argues their previous point.

Opinions or not they're still a review site and if they're to have any thing resembling a modicum of creditability they can't just go in and say the opposite of what they said earlier. It makes them look wishy washy.

I actually agree with every single one of their choices, so I'm not seeing any ignorance here. Reviews and "Top 10s" are ALWAYS opinions, not fact.
Yeah, I'm agreeing. Thing is, with GT5 I can't see why they waited so long save for all of the licensing. That shouldn't be happening in the first place. Waiting six years for an authentic Audi is just stupid. I can drive the real car for less than what Poly may have paid!

Disappointing =/= bad. The Fable series was practically built on disappointment.

Disappointing does not mean bad, however IGN fails for thinking GT5 is a let down.

Also keep in mind IGN Australia wrote that article, they might have scored the games differently.
it depends on what you were expecting/hoping for with GT5

I was hoping for a LOT more cars with cockpit cam (only 200, while forza has around 500)
but then, they don't know shit about how to drive fast, (they had fucking autobraking on in their review) so they're still living up to the old "you can't spell ignorant without IGN"

Oh no! They disliked a game you liked, now they're ignorant!

Of course, "IGN" Isn't a single person, and your list comes from IGN AU, which has been consistent on the point (An AU editor even put up an editorial on "why it fails"). Oh, sure, those scores came from other people, people who weren't critical of the game, but IGN is totally ignorant for professing multiple views (Across multiple continents, no less!).

Not to mention, games like GT5 and Alan Wake were crushed under the force of their own hype. These games really should have higher scores because with all this development time, they should be beyond awesome. And logically, did anyone expect good things from TFU2 in the first place? Hard to be "let down" by any title that didn't have you all worked up in the first place.

The only ones I don't agree on are Final Fantasy XIII and Fable III. The others...pretty much. Substitute them for a Call of Duty or two and your all set.

You can think a game is fantastic and still find it disappointing.

I thought TES IV was an awesome game, but it could have been so much more.
Agreed, off the top of my head:

Far Cry 2

Mafia 2

Age of Conan

And [flame shield up] Modern Warfare 2

Notice that three of them have a number at the end, and those three games have very good prequels, so that also adds heavily to the expectations.

OT: I think we all expected these to be on the list, didnt we? Besides the fact that theres no Force Unleashed 2 of course.

again I must state the issue isn't that they say this and that game is good or bad, but different reviewer or not when you make a list that has a number of games your site personally ranked as high and good (implying we should all go out and buy them) but then later turn around and post a list calling those same games disappointments, counter mines your earlier proclamations of good.

IGN is for all intents and purposes and PROFESSIONAL review site. It's not a message board were people come together to just chit chat. we're supposed to be able to take professional reviewers with more seriousness then we are your every day random message board poster. If there were any disappointments int he games they ranked so highly then the should have addressed them in the main review or ranked the game accordingly.

It's counter intuitive and somewhat hypocritical.

look at it this way. You see a game ranked as an 8.9 or so, you think wow they really liked this, but then you see the same game on a list of top 10 disappointments and you have to stop and think what the hell, is this game good or not.

disappointing does not equal bad.

I think it's a pretty good list.

But what's with the list obsession?

Disappointing isn't the same as bad you know.

Like Mafia 2,it's great game, but it's kinda disappointing.
