I don't post topics that often, but I would like to ask a question.

I just finished god of war 3 at nine o'clock in the evening and unfortunately I don feel up to doing anything else this evening because I have been blown right away. I feel breathless and satisfied, all full up. Anything else I do this evening will be somewhat overshadowed.

So let me ask you this, have you ever played a game that has left you breathless and contented? If so what game was it?

Metroid Prime.
It was utterly amazing to me the first time i played it.
Everything about it was incredible, the story, Music, Creatures,
Atmosphere.
Its one game ill probably continue to play even when i get old.

Shadow of the Colossus, so much. Holy crap, every freaking battle.

Pretty much every few minutes of Bioshock, something breathtaking would happen.

Okami. Just looking at it. Wow. Freaking wow.

I think I discoverd a major screw-up in GoW3.

When you cut your way out of Cronos' stomach you see him clenching his entrails. But when you see a wide shot of him after Kratos jammed the spike through his jaw, his guts magically retreated into his belly and his wound has disappeared.

Still a brutally epic game though.

OT: Shadow of The Colossus was a treat for the senses. Every introduction to a new colossus - except for the one or two smaller ones - made me tear up.

The first time I saw the Martin vs. Mehrunes Dagon fight in Oblivion I thought "Yep, Bethesda totally got this right." My PC is beefy enough to run that game on max settings, and that was pretty awesome.

Oh my yes I agree. It was many year before I completed that game but when I finally dragged myself to the very end it was outstanding. It would be difficult to pin down my favourite thing about that game but one of it's more original features is that you very rarely fight sentient enemies, and when you do their attack style really gives you the feeling that you are fighting a army of clever bastards.

Agreed.
The more Beast like monsters were tough but, once you got into a fight with something intelligent like the Space Pirates its difficulty went up.

My favorite thing comes down between the Art Style and the Music.
The art was beautiful, i loved the Design of the Suits and the effects of the Beams.
Most of all i loved the Environments, the Crashed Frigate, Phendrana Drifts, Phazon Mines, they were all beautiful.
The music was amazing, i mean, just the MENU theme was utterly beautiful and set the mode for the entire game.

{ Following the massive robot liberty prime into battle at the end of fallout 3 was just simply amazing}

Yeah Fallout 3 was a game that did that to me, from the expansive scenery to the bit at the end which hopefully i have managed to hide in a spoiler above.

I feel this way about a lot of games.

GOW3 definately has a lot of these moments.

In the beginning of ME2, when the ship is blowing apart, and you are running up to Joker and you pass through the area when everything goes quiet because the hull has been broken open... and then you look up and see the planet... that was definately a breathtaking moment for me.

Pokemon had the greatest ending ever. Oak wuz all "DOUCHE, I came (lulz) when I heard you beat the elite four, and you've already lost" He was so hard on DOUCHE. But then he was all "BADASS, you're such a Badass Pokemon Master, we're gonna immortalize you.... UNLIKE DOUCHE."

Epic ending.

oblivion,

every time i play it and role play just a little, the amount of stuff to do is dumb striking. just whenever i think of playing any other game i think they're all shallow with not much to do.

same with FO3, but i actually did pretty much everything so it's lost alot of appeal.

I'll have to agree with Shadow Of The Colossus, it doesn't lose its mind blowing quality even when you replay it several times. Especially the flying colossus that you have to incapacitate and then jump on its wings from your horse is in my opinion one of the most beautiful and intense moments in gaming ever.

- SotC
- Monster Hunter series, going up against Rathalos the first time in nubby armor just makes you think "oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fuckkkkkk"
- All the God of War games, 3 being the most epic visually.
- Final Fantasy visally, is breathtaking to see how far modern technology goes with CGI and animation.
