Don't feel too bad, I know the search button is hard for some people to figure out.
Old threads are old. Making a new thread for this is better than necroing what are mostly threads from 2009.

On topic: Lilith. With either a Hellfire or Double Anarchy SMG and the builds that suit those weapons best. A Hellfire SMG with a Firefly class mod that gives +4 to Phoenix is probably my favourite of the two, though.

Never really used the other characters all that much, although they were all fun to use. I just prefer the Siren.

Roland, because the Turret is the best "get out of a bad situation" power ever. Also, he's a bit of a tank when you get into a scrap.

I liked Mordecai because I'm a preferred sniper, but then I realized Roland can snipe, too.
This. Exactly this.

I have played all 4 characters and didn't notice a huge difference in terms of weapon proficiency, so going off of action skill alone, I'm going with Lilith, her phase walk is just so great for sneaking up on enemies for a damage bonus from the phase blast, or as an "oh shit, my health is low and my shields are down, let's regain some health, recharge my shield, and run to cover real quick!" opition ;)

Lilith.

By stats alone, she is the single best player character in the game. In both PvE and PvP, there is nothing in the game, not even Crawmarex (ok, you need a couple of Liliths, but thats beside the point) that can stop her.

Roland, of course. He's both the only black guy on the planet and the most effective of all of them. I mean, just look at the man's signature; It's pure efficiency.

Roland, because I usually find myself using assault rifles in shooters, and ammo regeneration. Since Borderlands is intended to be co-op, I'll add that playing with someone who uses Mordecai is a good idea.

Brick. By far and away brick. I love punching bosses to death with explosive punches.

AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

Cracks me up. Actually, I remember playing with a friend - he got stuck somewhere and had to catch up with me, leaving me with a boss to kill on my own - I hit the berserk button and punched the guy to death, landing the last hit as my friend turned up, leaving him nothing to do. I laughed hard at him turning up to this scene of explosive carnage expecting me dead but finding me the only one left alive :D

You don't have to be a dick. Just say that this has been done before.

OT:

Roland, 'cause I like the shotguns. Plus the Assault Rifles.

And he's got this eerie madness about him. <--- Reference! :p

Roland is pretty beastly. In single, all you need to do is drop his turret down the entrance for some bosses. That's how I beat the first for sure

Mordecai. I lover revolvers. And his voice acting is very good.

I've played them all. 3 of them to level 50, 2 of them to 61.
Lillith is the easiest of them all, and has proably the most dynamic playstyle since you rarely need to worry about cover. Brick just plain sucks, at least solo.
Brick sucks if you go with the Brawler set. If you go mostly tank set, with the gun neutral blaster abilities (not the bazooka ones) he can be very good, as you wind up dealing fairly good damage with guns, while taking a lot of damage to be killed. If you use beserk as a heal and to run away, rather than just running around punching things like the Incredible Hulk, he can be fun and powerful.

I think the problem with a lot of people who play Brick is they try to be the Incredible Hulk. I try to be a guy with a gun, who hides behind cover and plays tactically. It works pretty well.

First time I played, I was Roland, simply because I prefer shotguns.

I started another game with Lilith, but I couldn't see the point of her power, and I ultimately stopped playing (it was when Fallout New Veas came out, so I would have quit anyway.)

Next game I start up, I'll try Lilith again.

Lilith. Phasewalking and pwning entire armies with little more than dimensional warps and regenerating fire-spewing SMGs...

Yeah, playing as Lilith was a lot of fun. Team her up with Brick and it becomes an interesting dynamic.

Most games I play as a sniper, but goddamnit punching people and them exploding is just too damn awesome. Brick all the way.
