I've bought the game and it is fun... But it does have some massive flaws.

Why, for instance, are the enemy A.I. god-like and the friendly A.I. spittle drooling morons?

Also, why can't I join a multiplayer match without having dollar store connection lag? Once we get about 6-7 people in the game, it starts to glitch. Come now, we're better than that lagging bullshit!

If the A.I. were fixed, the multiplayer taken into better consideration and the campaign maybe a little longer... the game would have been golden.
I like the classes, but I want more weapons and more customization options for my character!

I like it. Yea, it's got it problems, but hearing that it's getting some healthy patching coming soon, and the first DLC will be free are both very good signs. I can easily see it maintaining a good community, if it gets plenty of support, that is. There really isn't anything else quite like it, and the closest thing I can think of is TF2, and even then they are VERY different games.

Hell, I love it just because it actually gives context for the multi-player with the cutscenes and voice overs. Splash Damage are really the only guys even trying to do this, and for me atleast, this is just such a neat thing.

I'm loving Brink personally, even tho I'm playing at 20fps so I can't wait for them to fix their ATI bugs.

Really, no sniper rifles?
Um, there are sniper rifles. They're the light rifles. You just have to put scopes on them.
No, those are weak, semi auto pieces of crap. I want a bolt action, powerful sniper.
There is one..
Jesus stop complaining about things on which you do not know.

I am waiting for people to sell this game for really cheap or an inevitable sale.
Honestly, if I had known the launch version had been this shitty, I wouldn't have gotten it on 5/10.

So two days ago I bought Brink and I think it's a great game across the board. Well, as long as everything works. As you may know it is plagued with bugs and glitches and overall is just unpolished. What I want to ask is that after a few patches, a little bit of AI tweaking (not needed for those only using multiplayer), and getting their server's shit together so that 16 player games are possible again without the debilitating amount of lag do you think that Brink will be able to contend with say TF2 or some other class/objective based shooter?
No because at this point the big multiplayer games have a dug-in fan base, and after some recent new IP releases that have not faired well, especially with multiplayer, the likelyhood of these new IPs to be in contention with the likes of TF2 and Battefield is highly unlikely. When games like Brink and Homefront get 6-7s and user reviews aren't much better, they won't be able to survive.

Even after its fixed, if it gets fixed, ask yourself: What do I feel like playing? TF2, BC2, or Brink?

Project Reality is pretty cool. 128 players games on huge maps.

*googles Brink*

Oh that. Wont stand a change. The next MP shooter will wipe the floor with it.
Remember MAG? No? thats cuz it was terrible. and it was 128 players on huge maps. How about Planet Side? Even bigger, with a whole solar system to fight in. I hope Project reality is awesome, but I have my doubts.
Planetside currently supports 500 players per map. Unfortunately the population is nowhere near big enough to sustain fights like that. I'm getting tired of all these shooters claiming to be MMOFPS yet are less than 1/3rd of the size of PlanetSide, an eight year old shooter.

On topic: I hope so as I'll probably end up picking it up if I ever see it on sale. One thing it will have over TF2 is no completely ridiculous hats (right??).

I did apologize, but I guess that doesn't matter.
No it does, my apologies, this is twice this week, I guess I need to read on more, ugh. I'm deeply sorry I bothered you twice. I will say this, if you're that into sniping, I'd probably pass on this game, cause thats not what this game is about.

No worries. I've been playing it and pwning with the semi auto rifle. I use a smg with larger mags though so I can always fight my way out.

well I don't have a good enough computer to even play TF2 and the reason I bought Brink was because Battlefield was getting stale after a year of mainly that COD, Borderlands, and AC Brotherhood . Also I tend to support new IPs that show promise and new ideas so long as they aren't just absolutely terrible. I was one of the few people who was able get around the unbelievably repetative gameplay and enjoy Assassin's Creed and I'm glad it got a sequel. I think Brink may have a similar path to the AC franchise since they have id behind them.

Yeah. This should have been an XBLA title. Section 8 Prejudice is and seems to be far better then this.

I doubt patches will do the trick, unless they literally include new packages into the game and change it fundamentally.

A multiplayer game that suffers from lag and broken whatnot, doesn't bode well.
Did anyone other than me notice that Bad Company 2 had not Xbox Live support for about a week after release or was that just me? Also Bethesda helped make it so they probably know what to do when it comes to patching a game (ie. New Vegas) I don't know who runs the servers but I'll assume it's id since they kind of created the online FPS. I hope have their shit together server wise by the end of the June.
