It is rather fascinating how the majority says "so what that there are no women?" and arguing that the point is not about ethics, it's about gameplay. Thing is though, why is it only men to begin with and not women?
Well, there are several reasons for that, first, what most people don't really think of is that when gender is not suppose to matter, the base gender in most cases tend to become the male gender, especially where violence is concerned, and that, mind you, is just... unethical. Besides, considering the fact that most studies show that the female gender, genetically speaking, is the base gender, it just becomes a cultural thing. but let's not go too deeply into that.
The other reason why you do not have only women to begin with is that a game with only men have (until recently) been considered as just an other game in it's genre, while a game with only women becomes odd somehow and is given another "atmosphere" and a "sub-genre", and I get the feeling that Brink is not suppose to have that kind of lable or atmosphere.

But lets face it, todays modern society, subconciously or not, look diffrently upon men and women, and most of the time we don't even concider the impact of our actions and the influence it has over how we perceive the world, and that is just because we are too lazy to think much about it most of the time.
Men probably aren't that much more into being shot at than women are, yet we rather shoot at men than women.
And it is because of this, that the people that gives us todays cultrural values in the shape of games, movies and books alike, need to be more conciderate while contributing to our culture, that is why every gender, colour and ethnicity should always be included.

BTW, I'd just like to add that phisically and aside from some rather minor skeletal structure details and the obvious genitals the body of a healthy man and a healthy woman are actually rather similar, it is what we want to emphasize with clothing, makeup and haircuts that usually makes the big visual differences.
In essence, a some what decent character artist should have been able to with out that much extra effort make female bodies and faces.

Did you ever notice that when Bethesda Softworks teams up with another developer, the game sucks out loud? Like when they went from Fallout 3 to Fallout New Vegas? Yeah. Like that. Kind of the reason why the Elder Scrolls have gotten better since Morrowind. They kept it to themselves.

Brink would have been a lot better if Bethesda would have stayed away from Splash Damage. Unfortunately, Bethesda is now guilty by association for Brink. Brink is a great game, with a great idea. But the execution, and putting theory to practice, sucked on fire.

I couldn't care less about the absence of females. Male, female. They all bleed the same when you shoot them in the head.

actually I would debate that men are physically stronger. Women have more strength distributed in the legs( Anyone ever been caught by them and unable to pull free? ;p) which would present an advantage in a game like this.
