actually i belive the youngest people tried for murder where two 10 year olds who abducted and killed a toddler in fact the age for which you could be tried for a crime was lowered just for them
Partial truth.

Yes, two 10 year olds were convicted of murder. The Jamie Bulger case; but the age of criminal liability was always 10. They would never lower it for one case. The constitutional upheaval would be insane.

Isn't that fun and magical? But! You're going to have to do better, Britain. Here in the US, our youngest murderer is 8.
I think the main concern should be the fact that innocent lives have been taken no matter by who.

I'm sure there's lots of things that happened in the past 20 years that may be of interest to some people, but if we make threads about every macabre thing that happened in the past two decades, this forum would be inundated with pointless topics.
I'm sorry but... have you ever actually BEEN on these forums before? I'm fairly certain we're ALREADY inundated with pointless topics.

OT: Not much else to say, really. This is a horrible thing that happened, that's about it.

To the gallows with her!! Someone who murders another person at 12 years old is a fucked up individual, and will just kill again eventually.

TO THE GALLOWS I SAY!
Strangely enough, she probably has a mental disorder, and to hang someone who is just fucked up in the mind is like hanging a retard, neither really know why they did it or how, but they did it. Honestly, hope she got the counselling she deserved or already is dead, this came out in, I think 199X so it probably already happened, either she got her life on track or is now dead.
Sociopaths dont "get their life on track." When they start killing animals before they hit their teens there's just no coming back from that no matter how much counselling.

Society's pretty much going to have to shoulder the burden of keeping her fed and housed in whichever prison cell for the rest of her life.

Personally, its not a question of ethics or right or wrong, if someone's a clear danger with no hope of rehabilitation, just fucking put them down so so taxpayers don't have to shoulder the burden of keeping them contained.

This must be the night of crazy ass news on the Escapist. First a guy gets Miyamoto signature tattoo, than a kid gets harassed and repedately beaten while people watch and do nothing, and now this. And I was perfectly happy before I logged in :(

Don't we also have to pay to put them down? Or is that just over here in the states?

I guess I learned something, I thought that through a course of years that you could, in theory, suppress it for a very long time. I read that somewhere, just can't remember where, either that or my memory is changing my answer on me

Most of the cost of the death penalty (in the states, can't speak for other places) comes from the decades of appeals and foot dragging that cons go through. They still get housed and fed for 20+ years on top of astronomical costs for legal representation over that time. The system needs an overhaul badly. The actual execution costs around $30 worth of chemicals.

Which is kinda unavoidable, since it's not like a ton of innocent people have been executed before, right? ...Oh wait...

Yes, it's a problem when the person is without a doubt guilty, and they are a menace to society. But we can't let those few cases be the standard on which the system is based.

That said, I hope this chick wound up hopped up on drugs that remove all cognitive thought. I mean, she clearly has a problem. One that I'm pretty sure can't be fixed.

There's a good reason for that, once you execute someone there's no bringing them back if they turn out to be wrongly convicted. There are some people in this world I think are worthy of death, but I wouldn't enforce the death penalty as it could be me or you that ends up falsely on the dock. Sure, we'll have to pay to keep a few people alive who don't deserve it, but I think that's a fair price to pay to ensure against the ultimate miscarriage of justice.

For the little girl in this case, perhaps we shouldn't be so harsh on her. Given her statements and actions at such a young age, it's clear that she didn't choose to be the way she is, she is ill in the mind. If her illness is incurable, then surely we can consider letting her live somewhere where she unable to hurt anyone-else? Take away the madness and she is a child like any other.

Or at the very least, we might be able to gain some insight into why she ended up like that. But I honestly don't think she's cureable. Her psychosis just seems waaaaay too freakin deep.

Oh, and one reason I dunno if killing her outright is the best idea: She's probably like it. So keeping her locked up and bored (or drugged) out of her mind is a much better punishment.

I went to school with sharon carr and she was a fucked up indivdual she even dated my mate ;$, Even on the anniversary of the katie ratcliff murder she stabbed a girl who name was also katie in the eye for a freaky reminder of what she had done a year earlier. Even when you spoke to her she defo was'nt in the right mind normally would laugh at things she say about murder and the devil. Back then as a schoolboy guess i thought it just nothing more then having watch childplay or physco the night before. She even dated one of my school mates wow makes my blood go cold thinking someone i knew at around the time of murder did this fucked up thing. Really hope she is never released and left where ever she is be safer world for everyone.

She sounds interesting... it's quite ironic, I'm too intrigued or amused to be angry at her actions. O ye, morbid fascination. It seems as if she was endowed with a certain malevolent, alien genius.
