I don't think you quite realise what a wonderful place the UK is to live in. The climate is perfect however much we complain, and the services like the NHS are, dispite flaws, brilliant.
I think if you got US citizenship you would be able to join the army, however i'm not sure.
I want to reiterate this - The UK is awesome.

If you really want to move for some reason, at least move to somewhere else in the Commonwealth, it's less of a transition and you can still love the Queen.

You seem to have the exact same ideas and opinions as I do.....

Are you me from the future?

OT: Well, If you have LOTS of problems, then sure, go to the US. If the list of problems is really only 5 or less, then you might as well just go to some other part of britain.

................

Oh screw it, pack your toothbrush and go to America. It's the land of opportunity.

Wow. Well this thread was pretty much my research to be perfectly honest. I always thought signing up for the US military was a guaranteed way in, but apparently not.

I love in the West Midlands. It's actually horrible here. Mainly a sort of "Wow I'd like to live there kind of thing".

As for healthcare, I was in hospital, getting a chest Xray on an infection (Which has now gone) and it took them a month to get back to me. The NHS isn't as great as it's made out to be.

Just a thought anyway. But it seems a ridiculously unpopular idea.

Isn't there an old saying which goes "The grass is always greener on the other side?"

If you move to any other country other than the UK you'll won't be getting rid of any problems. You will just be swapping your old ones for new one's instead.

You want to leave England to live in the US?

That sir does not compute

I think that you have a slightly (hugely) naive view of what the state of the union is at this moment in time.

Come to Canada! It's not really as cold as everyone thinks and we have the public healthcare that is all the rage these days. Our economy is one of the only ones in the world that isn't terrible right now and we have hockey and curling, the greatest games on Earth.

British people can't apply for the Diversity lottery so you'll need to get a green card by either a marriage green card or a work-based green card.

Work based implies you have a career which you have spent a lot of time in or have a masters degree in the field, so no joining the Army from that. America has one of the hardest (if not THE hardest) immigration systems in the World.

So errm, if you want to move over there, get on some American dating sites and find a girl with a thing for British accents. :p
