No different networking layers to go through, less tweaking, and sometimes less hassle. Unless you don't know how to open a port, but you can google that and find a guide for the exact model of your router.
Hamachi is a wasted security measure. They'd have to know your IP
either way the only difference with hamachi is you have to log into hamachi, know the hamachi network name, and then the hosts IP (which is displayed, and can be copied with a right click, but still) It's just a useless hassle for a private server.
and to make it batter, if someone does hand out your IP you get a new one in a month. So you can just not tell whoever made it public. >.>

sorry for that, just don't see hamachi as optimal for a small group of friends. It's just stable (your IP won't change)
You can also get free DNS services so you won't have to keep giving out a new IP...and if someone does breach security you can just break the link to your IP >.> and..
