I can't say how the Directors Cut compares to the original Broken Sword as i've never played it, but I whole heartedly recommend to anyone who hasn't yet openined a gog account to register and snatch this awesome game while it's still free.

You get both. So you can compare and contrast if you really want. (Personally, I liked the extra content. It added a little extra backstory to Nico's character).
