After watching the first episode of MLP,I still don't know why people love it so much. I mean there is nothing wrong with it,is just i don't see why so many people like it,and before you say it's personal taste, please say why.

Example:My friend thinks halo is meh but doesn't understand why I like it,so I explain that I like the multiplayer and story of the series.

Come on now. Beyond personal taste, how can anyone account for anything? You don't like it, that's fine, there's nothing WRONG with you.

Okay fine.
First off, all the guff everyone else says; good storylines, very good animation, high quality voice-acting, not just a 25min advert for toys, designed for parents to be able to sit through it whilst their kids watch and not want to gouge their eyes and ears with the family pet.

But as time went on the writers have put more and more references that kids won't get but older viewers will, and that's pretty cool.

Because Fluttershy is adorable. I honestly haven't watched much, but that is the primary reason for any joy I have taken out of the show so far. It's rather funny sometimes too.

Also what do you mean by 'say why it is simply personal taste'? It just is. Some people just like it and they don't have to justify that to you or anyone. Subjectivity my friend.

[sub]Not a Brony BTW

EDIT: Watched a few episodes and it's actually pretty good. Wouldn't consider myself a Brony though[/sub]

Eloquently put, Dr. Pussymagnet. Eloquently put.

OT: What he said. Also because of the hilarious pun I was able to make with my avatar. <-

Alright, the question is how long until this thread gets locked down.

OT:It's animation is great, its characters are fleshed out and realized without being stereotypes, the voice acting is phenomenal, the songs are good, the subject matter is excellent, they don't treat the audience like idiots, and the Creator Lauren Faust made it with the intent that adults will be watching it with their daughters, thus she didn't dumb it down.
Lauren Faust was also able to make this happen by telling Hasbro that she wasn't just going to make a twenty minute commercial for the toy-line and actually make people care about what they are buying. Plus, she was very involved in the making of Powerpuff Girls, Codename Kids Next Door, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, all of which are quite good.
And beyond that, it wasn't supposed to be good. It was supposed to continue the trend MLP suffers from and go from acceptable, to not good, to poor, to OMG Y U SO BAD, and so on. To have it not only break the trend but to be good has juxtaposed it to a new level and the pure shock of it not being terrible was enough to garner itself an initial audience to get a foothold in the older fans.

Also, since you're fairly new I feel I should tell you that these sort of threads are not really something that gets smiled upon and that you should totally use the search function as I have been apart of no less than a dozen of these threads with the same exact question.

It's fairly funny, the animation's good, and there are reaction faces everywhere.
Granted, I don't know if I can really call myself a brony.

Speaking as a recent 'Brony' I think I can answer that question:

It's got great characters, surprisingly clever writing, and enjoyable humor.

this is one show that in ways really goes out of its way to not insult the viewer's intelligence and does alot to avoid being dull for a second. Also, when I see an episode I didn't catch before, I become easily engaged in it and interested in what's gonna happen.

I don't know if it answers your question, but I hope it gives you a good view of how the fanbase looks at the show.

Because its cleverly written, has great songs and, prove that there can be a show about technicolor ponies for families instead of just for girls between the age of 2 to 7. I haven't caught an episode in a few weeks though honestly.

Because a group of us all got together, and decided we were going to act like we overly obsess over this show purely to screw with everyone else. Honestly, we didn't think it would go as well as it has.

I bet that Spiderman will eventually show up.

That or Willie Wonka, this thread is begging for it. (Or at least the title is.)

I personally find the show entertaining because the humour is good, the characters are fun to watch, the writing is well-done, and the songs are both catchy and enjoyable. Basically, I just think that the show is all around well made.

For a show about brightly colored ponies it goes into some pretty dark things. Pretty much all of the main characters have at least one mental disorder.

It kind of reminds me of (old) Spongebob. It looks all kid-friendly and light-hearted, but watching it as an adult brings interesting things to light. The characters still act in cartoony ways, but they have believable (if not always sane) motives.

Now as to why I like watching a show about brightly colored ponies with psychological illnesses... I don't know.

It's funny, it's cute and... that's it, pretty much. Really, if you're looking for that one specific thing that makes everyone like the show... you're not gonna find it.It's not like there's that one character or that one running joke that makes the show great, it's just quite good and it's not that hard to see why it has such mass appeal.
