Perhaps the broom has imbued him with awesome powers... Yes. That is indeed so. This broom is the tool of God! Quick, bring the broom to the Vatican to replace the Pope! I have no doubt in my mind that that is what God intended and that it will do a better job.

On a more serious note: This broom is clearly smarter than the people who behold it, in that town anyways. Clearly it has already learned to stand and soon it will walk, and after that it will take its place upon the throne in the Vatican. OK! I'm done.
