Good people, Evil Dead fans everywhere, I bid you a heartfelt farewell playing Ash - the character I took acting lessons with for 39 years.

I am hereby retiring from that portrayal. It?s time. I followed Ash from his formative years thru his mid-life crisis and decline. What a thrill! What a privilege!

We had a great resurgence with the help of Starz (kudos not jeers, folks). They made it possible for 15 more hours of Evil Dead-ness in your life - the equivalent of 10 more features!

Is Ash dead? Never. Ash is as much a concept as a person. Where there is evil in this world, there must be one to counter - man or woman, it matters not.

Thanks for watching.

Love,

Bruce

So after 37 years, looks like the third season of Ash vs Evil Dead will be his last rhodeo. It's been a good run, and I say it's better to end on a high note then a low one. Well, this is the end of Ash, no one can take Bruce's place.

Not a bad choice for Bruce. If you followed his career, you know he's actually wanted to lay the character to rest for quite some time, before the success of AvED gave it an extra life.

And also concur, noone else is going to even come close to filling those shoes. Here's to hoping they'll let the Evil Dead lie...

Good. The character was only funny for one movie, and as someone who met Bruce Campbell running security at a Con, yeah...He's like Shatner. You have to be willing to deepthroat and swallow it all if you want to keep him happy. Bruce is about as Bruce as you think he is, and that't not a good thing.

I give him props for actually putting it to rest in a respectful way. He actually gave fans a bit more of what they wanted and reached a time where he could legitimately say it was time to put the character away. Unlike guys like Harrison Ford, Billy Murray, or Alan Tudyk who were like nah just kill the character so I don't have to play it anymore.

While we're at it, is that Bruce Campbell in your avatar and where is the image from? I've always wondered.

Okay, Harrison Ford - Han Solo, everyone knows. Alan Tudyk I'm assuming you mean Wash from Firefly/Serenity, but that wasn't his request, it was the studios after he (and Ron Glass) refused to sign on for sequels at the same pay rate. Unless there's another character of his you are referring to. And Bill Murray? Has he ever died in anything besides Zombieland?

He died a shitload of times in Groundhog's Day, though none of them stuck.

Han Solo was only one of Ford's memorable roles. And, to me, Han's death didn't seem to be some casually thrown in whim of a decision. His death served a purpose to the story.
Indy and Deckard are still alive as of now.

Too bad it was a terrible story and the death horribly executed. I knew he was going to die the moment he was even announced in the movie, but holy shit, how anyone was surprised he would die in that scene given how it was framed from the getgo is baffling. And I know people where surprised because I heard gasphs in the theatre.

How is season 3. I really liked season 1, enjoyed season 2 but I wasn't impressed with the first episode of season 3. Is it worth sticking with?

Ford wanted Han to either not come back after Empire or die in a heroic fashion in Jedi, as he was tired of the character and felt Han really had no where to go in regards to character development.

Personally, my theory is that Han's death in TFA was part of his demands, in addition to his salary, to be in the film. :D

The reboot? I haven't seen it and didn't even know they were connected to the original in any way.

The good thing is for the idea of the show... it's based on literal magic. Ash can be blasted into another body or form and they can spend the rest of the time (Fruitlessly) trying to get him back into his normal form.

The bad thing for the show is that Bruce Campbell is what people wanted to see when they tuned into the Evil Dead series. It's like how the new Nightmare on Elm Street might have been 'scarier' or better made, but it wasn't Robert Englund under the make up.

Hence, why I'm hoping that they will let AvED end as of the end of season 3.
