Personally I thought it was a rather fun game and alot more original than anything else I played this year. I loved the music (namely because I'm a Judas Priest fan and they play an insane amount of that which is probably due to Rob Halford's voice acting) and the story was actually pretty sweet. I enjoyed the RTS battles with the possible exception of the last one, and thought it did a relatively good job at mixing RTS with actually being able to fight (something I feel Kingdom Under Fire games failed miserably at). Don't really see it as being overrated but you are entitled to your opinion.

Also I have to agree with those people who said "I stopped reading after the 'I haven't finished the game'" part. Kinda lame

Yeah you need to finish the game before reviewing it. Even though as you put in you opinion the game doesn't have that drive that keeps you playing you still need to see what else it has to offer.

I'll agree with you on the frustration side of things, that sometimes you're left with no direction and no idea what you're meant to do or where you're meant to go. However it's not that hard to figure it out and get the mission done. Granted you can't really complete them all first time.

Also I sympathize with what you said in the parts where there isn't much in detail like with what the combat is like but that's hack and slash for you. I like the idea of having an Axe as your primary weapon and a Guitar (Music Axe). Usually in these games you only get one attack button and the rest are blocks, counters, dodges.

I disagree with your idea that the world is weak, I actually found it to be rather good looking and very metal themed. In my opinion it's not too big that it takes a long time to get places and it's not too small, that everything is spaced out nicely.

I also think that a mini-map is unnecessary as when playing free roam you go wherever you want, in races you are given checkpoints and in missions it's very hard to get lost because in missions like the metal queen lair and in the escape from the pleasure tower you cant really go anywhere else.

But seriously even though I love listening to metal and playing this kind of multiplayer style the game is really good. Especially for its comedic characters and epic storyline. This was just the kind of game I was looking for this year.

Yeah. Ok - so they got jack black and ozzy osbourne. Doesnt make it a good game.

The combat is simple button mashing, the controls are a bit annoying, the driving physics fail...

Bad review is bad.
Anyway, I have no interest in the game, but I don't know much more about it than I did before I read your review.
And no, you don't need a number, but I like how you say "it's shit" and then give it a 7 out of 10.
Jesus Christ, this is exactly what's wrong with reviewers.
"THIS IS TERRIBLE 9/10"
"WORST GAME OF THE YEAR 8/10"
"BEST GAME EVER 9/10"
Notice something?
This with the minor exception that I am interested in the game.
I would like to know what games you play on a regular basis OP, because it doesn't sound like you are into adventure games at all. If you bought it only because they play metal music in it you would have probably been better off buying the music and playing it with the games you already like.

I'm enjoying it, but I'm on the second RTS battle and it's really annoying me. Please tell me there aren't many more.
Hate to break it to you but from bladehenge onwards it`s almost exclusivly a mix of escort and RTS missions and they`re both quite shit (though running stuff over with the duece is rather fun)still the story is damn good as is the soundtrack and voice acting

Uncharted 2 surpassed it's predecessor
You act like that was a hard thing to do...
OT: I thought Brutal Legend was probably the greatest game I played this year that was NEW. Sure, it's not inFamous, but it's still good. It surely has "Best Hack-And-Slash" for Game Of The Year, and probably "Best Writing", "Best Voicework", and "Best Soundtrack", if they have those categories.
Actually I thought uncharted was a pretty damn good game. It was JUST long enough that you couldn't ***** about it being too short, it was FUN enough that you didn't mind the fact that essentially it was just linear group of simple puzzles built into a beautiful environment broken up by predictable segments where Magical mercenary soldiers who are apparently 20 times the "explorer" that you are considering that even though you just entered a previously undiscovered "tomb" or Passage that no man has set foot in in over 200 years or some such nonsense, and then quietly waited to die under a hail of your own bullets, the combat and controls were pretty solid, and the story was fast and well done if not very original as far as adventures go. If the goal of some games is to be 'cinematic' it doesn't get ANY closer than that. It didnt try to force 'cinematic similarity' on us like Metal Gear by subjecting us to HOURS of cut scenes, the characters felt genuine, and the story was decent enough to have been an Original Sci Fi channel movie starring Treat Williams.

I just didnt think that there was much you could do to EXPAND upon that game, and it struck me as a perfect "one off"... you know, one of those games that really DOESN'T need a sequel but would probably get one since it did so well. like Beyond Good and Evil (which I understand is going to get a sequel soon too).

But Naughty Dog showed me how wrong I was and honestly, Drake's fortune is one of those rare games that doesnt just recycle old game mechanics with a new story and a handful of new moves across some different environments that could have been tacked on in an expansion... it's an honest to goodness better than the original title that manages to make the ORIGINAL look flawed and boring.

Granted it's not as great as someone people are claiming it to be, but it is definitely a must buy if you own a PS3.

It is worth a rental at least.

And yes the facemelter is the only solo you will ever use in combat, "cause it melts faces *****" and is hugely overpowered.

Sounds overrated now, and I bet in a few years someone will be telling me all about how this game was underrated best game ever. Give it time.

It's ok, not great but not terrible either

But Pyschonauts was without a doubt PURE GREATNESS

Any issues you have with Brutal Legend will not be found in Psychonauts

It is varied all the way through, no grinding and the story follows through

You quit playing right before the major plot point in the game that opens up the second continent. You didn't even get to see the laser panthers and creatures made entirely out of guillotines.

This is more a pissed off rant than a review. I would advise that next time you're planning to review something, you finish it. If nothing else it will make people take you a little more seriously.

The purpose of reviewing something is to finish what you are reviewing so you can give a proper criticism.

If I were to do that with my reviews I would be flogged to death.

I have to disagree with a few of the comments here, if someone is so put off by a game that they don't have the inclination to finish it then that is, in itself, a valid arguement.

I mean if you don't like a meal, you don't eat it and THEN complain.

Then again, you wouldn't give that meal 7/10 either lol

You haven't lived until you ride a laser panther.
