As long as guitar hero exists in this world, nothing will ever one up it in shameless pandering to the poser demographic. Also, brutal legend is made for metal heads, no doubt about it. Sure, it's enjoyable to non headbangers, but they won't be able to appreciate it. There's a whole layer of subtle references that metal heads would be able to pick up on and go "haha that's awesome" and other people would just dismiss as another enemy or strange landmark design. Trust me, it's a good representation of a metal fanatic's fantasy world.
Meh, I understand where you are coming from, but its not really a big deal, especially if the game is opening people's mind to the awesome music of metal. As for me, my objections with the game are that its based around Jack fucking Black, he isn't a metal idol, he doesn't know what true metal is, especially since the game does have some of those bullshit false metal bands. Also I think the soundtrack could have been a little better picked.
My opinion on this particular title is as follows, just in case anyone is interested: Brutal Legend, in my opinion, is made and geared directly for metal fans. It is over-the-top and patently ridiculous by design. The hack-and-slash gameplay mechanic is implemented for this reason by and large, as it allows for gratuitous bloodletting which follows along with the heavy metal soundtrack and the tongue-in-cheek humor of the game. While the RTS sections do feel as though they are thrown in as an afterthought, they do move the storyline along effectively and are far from terrible. Most solid PC RTS titles can't handle the transition to a console nearly as well as Brutal Legend's RTS segments. Personally, I am a huge metal fan, have been obsessed with the genre and seeing shows of the ilk of the soundtrack of Brutal Legend (Danzig, Rotting Christ, etc.) for well over a decade now, and I feel that the game is a fitting homage while poking a lot of fun at the eccentricities of the genre. Granted, I achieved 100% completion on the title in two sittings (too much free time), but I've had more fun than is adviseable just tooling around in the Deuce (main vehicle) and killing things with a big freaking battleaxe that shoots lightning and a guitar that uses awesome solos to rain death on the slightly less awesome than myself

Yeah I have, well not with a game though. My friend kept pestering me telling me how good the anime show Bleach was, like non-stop forcing it down my throat. Then I eventually got around to watching it and thought it was meh.Jim Grim said:

I kinda see where the OP is coming from, but think of it this way. The sheep who start to like metal 'cos of this game will go out, buy CDs/gig tickets/clothing/whatever, the tax from those purchases will go around the system and hopefully be put into improving the country of your origin. You get to laugh at all the posers with their "omg metallica iz best!!!111eleven1!" attitude, and their newfound-but-oh-so-lengthy love for G'N'R, the government profits off their idiocy and the games companies get more money to put into new games.

You write well and make good points, but a word of advice: people will be more likely to read your posts if they are separated inot shorter paragraphs, as it is easier on the eyes that way.
The game is indeed great fun and I don't think you need to be a metal fan to enjoy it, but it helps!
It is like that, but that's not a reason to hate it. It seems like they try too much to make everything ''brutal'' or ''metal'', but you know what i love about metal? The lyrics and what those people express in their songs about the society, world, life and relationships. You don't see many of that in brutal legend, it's more about banging your head, going around with people with long hear, making moshpits and growling. It's like a person with long, black dyed hear, always playing air guitar (that looks like he's rubbing hes vagina), wearing that t-shirt with skeletons and growling/screaming in peoples faces.

Ummm so you hate Brutal Legends for its emphasis on different characters, music, and the world itself rather than the gameplay? Huh. This leads me a little baffled considering those things are what makes games unique and interesting outside gameplay.
Also, heavy metal fans are not the only ones who will find heavy metal emphasis in a game intriguing.
