Neverwinter Nights 2 was initially so buggy that you had to use Daemon tools and mount the .exe file just to get the thing to start up. Then there were the enemies that you couldn't kill because their hit points wouldn't go down when you hit them.

on oblivion, i would try to do the fighters guild quest whre you have to find a job for these 3 members, and i walked into the lodge and the game froze up, when you hit an invisible line you cant do anything and it just stops working at all. so annoying, fighters guild are the only achievements left!

I was playing through Oblivion earlier, and I noticed quite a few bugs, items spinning madly about, bodies continually twitching, and enemies getting stuck in trees or walls; this got me to thinking, what do you escapists believe is the buggiest/most broken game?
Every single game in the entire world has a bug in it, that's something you just can't get away from. It can be a small bug like a dead body twitching for no reason or it can be a big one like your body flying when a bug lands on you. Point is, YOU CAN'T RUN FROM THE BUGS SO GET OVER IT PLEASE!!!!!!

Warhammer Online, I found, was extremely buggy for me. I'd be walking and brush past a cart and get stuck.

I think that happened to me, but I didn't have the internet to try and figure out what was wrong so tried to kill something loads of times and ended up just not playing anymore.

Stalkers the most buggy game I own.
I hate it, it seems like a really good game I read the box every few months reinstall it for about an hour then just go "nah its shit" and stop again. It's weird because its the perfect concept of a game I would play, yet I hate it.

Both STALKER games are buggy as hell. Still great games though, especially when they're patched up.

I always found Oblivion to have the largest amount of bugs for a game highly rated.

I just do not like their engine one bit.

Yeah, their physics engine leaves a lot to be desired. I was glad that they fixed some of it in Fallout 3, but even that has it's fair share of glitches.
Odd, all this talk of bugs in Oblivion. I've never had a problem. I would say factory defect, but it's hard to argue the fact with three people back to back.
They show up in the PC version quite a bit, too. The weirdest one I ever experienced was in one of the clothing shops in the Imperial City. I went into the place and some of the shirts that were laid out on a table had for whatever reason stretched out to make these long, distorted supershirts that passed through the walls. I walked up and used the 'z' key on one, not sure what the button is on the 360/PS3, it's the command that lets you pick stuff up and throw it around, and all - and I really mean all - of the items in the shop exploded into the air. It was like a silent and invisible bomb had gone off in that place.

Far Cry 2, Mercenaries 2, Saints Row 1 & 2 and Star Wars The Force Unleashed, were the buggiest games I ever played. None of them were unplayable for me though.
Mercs 2 was incredibly buggy, I almost forgot about that one.
Yes it was. When your game has a bug like the "achievement bug" Mercenaries 2 has, then you know your game is buggy.

I find it curious that no-one mentioned SiN. For me it is known as the most buggy game ever released. Shortly after its release in 1998 there were a bunch of patches among which a patch the size of a whopping 33MB. In those days that was the biggest patch ever made. It was include on the demo cd of a lot of printed magazines, because the internet wasn't used for such large file transfers...

I haven't had any major problems with Fallout 3 even after like 150 hours but the DLC is horrendously bugged till the point its almost unplayable (im look at you the Pitt) but its nothing compared to the bugged mess that is Oblivion yet I still somehow love it to death hmm

Oblivion / Fallout 3 (which is really nothing more than an Oblivion mod) are the worst ones I've encountered in recent years. Before that, Vampire: Bloodlines (since you couldn't leave the tutorial until a patch was released, so it was necessary to skip it and miss some valuable xp) held the title.

CoD:WaW was one of the buggiest games I've ever seen. In the first level, you can walk through a metal tower that falls over. And don't even get me started with the multiplayer maps....

My mate fell through the map in wow once-he just kept falling into blackness - he logged out and back in - still falling. He had to get a GM to teleport him back - fun to listen to him moaning and huffing.
I managed to run off the end of the map in WoW during my trial. Thankfully, I was able to walk back though.

On topic.
I'd have to agree though that Fallout 3 is really broken. I often don't get the optional parts of quests done when I have done them. Some people forgot I have already met them and give me the original dialogue when I'm asking them for my quest reward. I also sometimes get really annoying graphical glitches. When I look North West. That might just be my disc though.
