Ooh this is a fun one. Gonna have to give it some thought...

1) Lavitz (Legend of Dragoon) -- No, not Albert.
2) Seed (Rogue Galaxy) -- Just an awesome character.
3) Yuna (FFX) -- Gotta have a healer. And a badass monster summoner for when I'm about to die.
4) Monster Hunter (Monster Hunter) -- I have never seen a better jack-of-all-trades.
5) Fang (FFXIII) -- Sentinel? Sounds like a tank to me. Not to mention she's one woman that I, also being female, would totally bang.

Anywho, I would be bring up the read with my bow and arrow.

I would be playing (living?) as a Monk-style hand-to-hand combatant. I'm of a very finesse>powah mindset. That being said:

1) Cecil Harvey (Final Fantasy 4) - Good attack capability and a healer all in one.
2) Tifa Lockheart (Final Fantasy 7) - Every party needs one attractive woman, and we could probably work out some good tag-team hand-to-hand combos.
3) Jade Curtiss (Tales of the Abyss) - Every party needs a sarcastic bastard. The fact that he's a powerful magic user only sweetens the deal.
4)Ziggy (Xenosaga) - Need a good bruiser/tank combo? How about a cyborg?
5)Serge (Chrono Cross) - I just need to shoehorn in a character from my favorite game. He's a strong (but not dominant) physical attacker and magic user, so it's not like he's detracting anything.

1) Hawkeye from the Marvel Universe -because he is damn awesome!
2) Vivi- Need a black mage, and he is just so goddam awesome!
3)Roland Deschain - From Stephen Kings Dark Tower series, again becaus he is awesome! A Gunslinger with his awareness skills is encredibly usefull!
4)Linu La'neral - from Neverwinter Nights. Her Cleric healing skills and skills with the undead could be usefull, don't know why, but allways be prepared! Shes also so darn entertaining, and I imagine in real life she's probably quite hot...
5)Galen Marek - I tried thinking of a KOTOR or KOTOR2 character, but at the end of the day, motherfunking Starkiller is the best!!

Yep, think I have a decent team there! It would definately be a fun adventure! I just hope we don't have to choose only 2 of them at a time to travel with!! :S

I'm guessing we all start out as novices and level up during the game, and I have some yet unknown, but awesome power that will make me a main character (although it might just be plot armour: the most powerful attribute of all!)

My team:

1, Ultramarine - WH40K Space Marine (tank/all round DPS)
2, Prince of Persia - PoP Warrior Within (melee)
3, Paladin - Fallout (ranged)
4, Bastila Shan - Kotor (healer/ all rounder)
5, Blue - Pokemon Crystal (Summoner)

The Prince can handle any agility obstables, the Paladin any dangerous environments, and Bastila will handle persuasion. I'd imagine fate has somehow made Blue immaterial or immortal, so he cannot be harmed, but can't do any damage, and uses his Pokemon to attack. We will so kick ass!

Since RPGs that exist within webcomics don't count, my preferred party of "the four (original) Homestuck kids and Andrew Hussie" would probably not fit within the rules. So.

1. Veronica (Fallout: New Vegas) for entertaining conversation, advanced technology, and fist-punching; she would probably be our nimble, close-ranged, DPS-and-tech glass cannon. Unless she brought her Power Armor...

2. Robo (Chrono Trigger), because every party needs a tank, and Robo is a tank with notable healing capability and the ability to behave as a laser disco ball. Not to mention he's a great, entertaining character.

3. Garrus (Mass Effect series) to serve as team sniper, with some nifty tech to go along with it. Also, he will undoubtedly fill the coveted role of "alien best bro". I will refer to him exclusively as "The Garrus Train", and he will call me "kiddo". Maybe not the last bit, but everything else is true.

4. Lucca (Chrono Trigger) to serve as our oh-so-critical support character. In addition to using her homemade tech to provide buffs and such in combat, like she does in Trigger, she will serve another, far more important role; making and upgrading our equipment. Which, uh, she also kind of does in Trigger. Also, in one Trigger ending, she made her own time machine. So, since she can probably build another one, bringing her along gives us access to glorious, glorious time travel.

5. Adam Jensen (Deus Ex: Human Revolution) because, I dunno, I couldn't think of anyone better. He's pretty multi-talented, and he'll look pretty badass alongside me (because I WILL be wearing a suit, fedora and aviators).

Let's see...

Zelos From Tales of Symphonia. He's probably my favorite character from that game, he's funny which is good for relieving tension on a long journey, and he's a powerful magic knight with healing abilities, always useful.

Charizard from Pokemon. Charizard is my favorite Pokemon of all time, and a fire dragon would be a worthy addition to any team. Might serve as a nice team pet.

Milly from Baten Kaitos Origins. Another of my favorite characters, from one of my favorite games. Funny,(because that's how I judge the worth of a character) uses some magic to power up her attacks, and dual wields maces.

Izuna from Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja. Another character to add to my RPG styled comedy troupe. Sarcastic and sexy, I feel this unemployed ninja with her mastery of the sword and ninja magic would be a valuable addition to the team.

And last but not least...
Mario from the Mario and Luigi series. Mario would serve as both a heavy hitter and straight man to our traveling comedy routine disguised as an adventuring party. As a straight faced silent protagonist he would be great for setting up punchlines, and as a hammer wielding acrobat he makes a good pure physical attacker to round out our team of magic knights and red mages.

Honorable Mentions/ Alternates:
Sheena of Tales of Symphonia. I thought it might be a bit unfair to the other characters to have two characters from the same series, plus have to people who knew each other prior might mess up the team dynamic. She was also in hot competition with Sheen for the position of team ninja, her summons and magical seals made her a strong contender but ultimately Izuna won out.

Magus from Chrono Trigger. He would have made a fine addition to the team, and a good straight man for the the more humorous members. Alas I did not think of him until after I had compiled the list, otherwise he might have made it.

Mewtwo from Pokemon. A possible replacement for Charizard, the ability to communicate psychically made him quite appealing as a team member but in the end I felt he was a bit overpowered, and would have unbalanced the party, so he didn't make the cut.

1. Wrex (Mass Effect) - Gonna need a tank and he can eat damage like a champ.

2. Soraka (League of Legends) - Because we need a healer and she is infuriatingly competent at that

3. Morrigan (Dragon Age: Origins) - A spell-caster who can turn into spiders and bears could always be useful

4. Adam Jensen (Deus Ex: Human Revolution) He'd be our rogue. I'm assuming if we are in a fantasy setting all those points in hacking would turn into lock-picking skill. If not he's still got arm-blades to cut people with so he's not completely useless.

5. Reginald Cuftbert (big-ups if you know where this guy is from) - Because when all else fails I can rely on him to bash anything into submission. So long as I can get him a constant supply of drugs and booze.

Assuming I have powers to help round out this team, here's my list.
1. Fawkes (Fallout 3) - Unlimited ammo gatling laser gun
2. Shadow (FF6) - Ninja with bonus attack dog
3. Minsc & Boo(Baldur's Gate 1 & 2) - Awesome ranger and comedic relief
4. Arishok (Dragon Age 2) - Presuming the Qun lets him help me, he's definitely the team tank/dps guy
5. Liara T'soni (ME1) - A good biotic (spellcaster) teammate.

1. Legate Lanius - Fallout: New Vegas
~Lanius is well above other characters in terms of both endurance and strength. He posesses a heavy-set sense of honour and is an exceptionally intriguing figure as well as a standardized tank.

2. Cicero - TeS V: Skyrim
~Yeah, I'm just going to assume that the majority of Skyrim players probably hate Cicero with a fiery passion, but I find it hard not to love someone I hypothesise to be voiced by SpongeBob SquarePants.

3. Mudcrab - TeS III: Morrowind
~Mudcrab is well... a mudcrab. Besides this, he is also the most wealthy merchant in the game. I have chosen him to accompany me purely for the financial assets.

4. Veronica Santangelo - Fallout: New Vegas
~Veronica is very attractive and likes punching things. What's not to love?

5. Shale - Dragon Age: Origins
Shale is a Dwarven War Golem. That's enough explanation.

1: Ezio Audditore Da Firenze (Ala AC Brotherhood): Stealth/Baddassery/Moneymaking

2: Sgt. Johnson (Halo 1-3, Halo 4 (Hopefully)): Laser Eyes (If you don't get this, stop reading and go watch Red vs Blue RIGHT THE F-CK NOW)

3: Me, Myself, and I: See Ezio

4: Obera Dia Vanille (FF13): Anything involving magic, really

5: My old EVE Online Character before that account got hacked (EVE Online): He had a Titan. Should be pretty easy to figure out that role

6: Artanis (SCII): Mothership, Cloaking Field, Mass Recall; It's essentially a 1-man behemoth that can teleport all of the above to it.

hmmm...

1. Ezio Auditori -The Assassin's creed series
He's a super assassin, and a ladys man. The guy is into his late 50s and is still able to kick tons of templar ass, and has been in contact with the very powerful apple of Eden, which has given him wisdom beyond his years.

2. Agent Texas -Red vs blue
Honestly if there is a more powerful character in any series, I haven't heard of them. Tex is just plain awesome. Between the sarcastic personality and the fantastic combative abilities, there's no way she wouldn't be coming with me.

3. Sam fisher -Splinter cell
Sam is one very, very, very dangerous man. He's a highly trained super spy who can take out entire bases of enemies without anyone ever knowing he was there. Add on the all the equipment he has, and he is truly a character to be feared.

4. Legion -Mass effect 2
Legion is a robot, bonus points right there, but he's also skilled in using assult rifles, AND snipers. He also seems to have a lack of a moral compass, so he'd probably be pretty submissive to whatever I decided to do. Not to mention he has the most wonderful explination as to why he used some of my armor to patch a hole in him.

5. Kinzie Kensington -Saints row the third
Kinzie is the most socially awkward super geek I can think of, and I love her for it. Her amazing abilites to hack into almost anything make her very valuable, and all the great conversations we could have don't hurt.

Alright... I haven't played too many RPGs but here goes nothing.

Sheena from Tales of Symphonia, she can summon monsters and use almost any kind of seals.
Amaterasu from the Okami series, agile, badass and having the weather I feel fit is not too bad
Aragorn from Lord of the Rings Online, It's a (MMO)RPG and you team up with him so it counts
Pidgeot from PokemonRed, I can now get anywere anytime and it's a pretty strong ally too
Soraka from League of Legends, last one's a healer, a good one

Mehrunes Dagon (The Elder Scroll's Series) - Has Leadership Experience. Suitable leadership experience.

One-Of-Many (Neverwinter Nights 2) - Multifaceted = Many talents

Kefka (Final Fantasy 6) - Who else could be suited for magic support then the god of magic himself?

Luca Blight (Suikoden II) - Extremely strong, and nigh unkillable.

Mudcrab (The Elder Scroll's Series) - Talents unknown, but is most likely to be the most powerful being in the world if rumors are to be believed.
