Alright, so there's already been a lot of crying about Bulletstorm not having a demo for the PC, and I've probably done my fair share of it. My major concern here is that they're going to release a really bad port of the console version. My main 2 reasons are as follows...

1. Games for Windows: Live. Most PC gamers need no further explanation for this reasoning but I'll explain anyways. GFWL is bad...very very bad. Most PC gamers hate it if they've had to deal with it and the ones that haven't have surely heard about it from someone. It's just a bad service and Steamworks surpasses it in almost every way imaginable.

2. No demo=No testing. One huge problem with PC games and one that has been a major problem for years upon years is that games released for it rarely work right off the bat unless they did extensive testing. The most recent example would have to be Call of Duty: Black Ops. They had no open beta and no demo for it and only about 1 out of 100 people had the ability to run it without crippling lag and constant stuttering. A demo is a really good way to get the game out, get feedback, and fix any major problems with the game before it's released and an absolute shit-storm unleashes on the forums everywhere because nobody can play it.

The thing that really ticks me off about this is that the developers of Bullestorm; People Can Fly and especially Epic Games, are both developers that started off, got their name known, and became renown by the gaming community as PC only developers. The PC demographic is where they got their start and they've basically turned their back on it. This is more aimed at Epic Games seeing as they abandoned PC gamers quite a while ago, while People Can Fly didn't really get a whole lot of publicity for Painkiller and never really "abandoned" the PC as a platform.

So what are your thoughts everyone? Because as of about a month ago I've had my mind set on pre-ordering Bulletstorm, but as soon as I learned about the demo and their usage of GFWL I have been really really skeptical.

You aren't missing much with the Bulletstorm demo.
Actually I played the demo on a friends Xbox and rather enjoyed it. This isn't about the quality of the demo though...

Bulletstorm looks like something I'd pay a lot for, if it didn't have network activation.

I haven't played the demo - no point. I will only buy a FPS game on the PC, unless the design is such that the game is best controlled with a gamepad. This has never been the case with any FPS I'm aware of.

This concerns me too, mostly because the controls were perfect for a controller, it just flowed beatifully.

And something that works beautiful with a controller never works as good on a keyboard and vice versa.

GFWL isn't the greatest thing in the world to be sure, but it's come a long way since launch. I have absolutely no issue with it. Especially when compared to something truly horrific, like the gamespy provided multiplayer in Borderlands.
