It's trying to bring back the charm of old-school shooters, but being generic Epic games stuff isn't helping. Plus, modern FPS design
and forced humor *facepalm*. Humor in games is a whole other issue, I'm sure Extra Credits could do a thing on that.
It won't be respected as a hardcore shooter, but that's because if the game got hard that would take take away your ability to be creative. So, trying harder difficulties is pointless, so that's not its way of replayability. This game's replayability is racking up more points, in Echo Mode (like Mirror's Edge time trials). I loved that part of the demo, and am proud of my 10,000 points.
The actual gameplay of racking up creativity is great, though. I'm all for it. But it got frustrating in the demo with the claustrophobic level design.
It's a struggle, because I'm more excited about DUKE NUKEM FOREVER from the footage I've seen of it, and hearing it's "16-18 hours, that's about 3-4 Call of Duty's! [http://tinyurl.com/5rnz555]"
(aim assist, snap lock, linear corridor level design, ally
characters, no jumping, bloody screen so real!, 2-4 weapons at a time)
