well the bad thing about the demo is that they took out a lot of very important skillshots that would be useful in it, and the level they chose isnt exactly the coolest level in the world, since it looks like it was copy/pasted from gears of war.
It seems like all the killshots with the assault rifle were left out, such as "X-Ray" and "Incinerate", meaning that most people will try it and think its useless (it certainly is in the demo) or just think that the game doesnt have very many skillshots. The first time I went through with only the assault rifle, and I barely cleared 3,000 points. That will turn a lot of people off on its own.
The rocket launcher with pistol attachement (thats right I said it) doesnt have the "Fireworks" award, which means if you accidentally hit a guy with the rocket, no matter how awesome the death was, you only get 10 points. I found myself aiming AWAY from guys to splash them with fire so I didnt waste one dude and miss out on 500+ extra points.
Add in the fact that some of the skillshots are surprisingly difficult or have a hard time registering. The "Mercy" reward is surprisingly difficult to achieve (I guess these guys have small "targets", if you want to joke with the more immature crowd) but it can be frustrating when you're running through an epic killstreak, then have to stop and manually aim 3 to 4 bursts just to shoot one guy in the nuts.
This being said, despite its childish and grossly immature vibe and storytelling (probably one step too far in trying to appeal to the pottymouthed 14 year olds) this could be one of the most complex and involved shooters I've played. You guys that are bashing it should give it another go in the demo. Take your time, and experiment with enemies. You'd be amazed at how much you can learn.
For example, shooting one of the green guys in the head with the pistol gets you the "One Hit Wonder" and the "Toxic" bonuses, at roughly +350 points. If there were three guys near him, they are now all intoxicated as well, each of them can now be killed for a +250 bonus. Activate the rocket on the pistol and fire it into the group. They are now on fire. You can now earn ANOTHER +100 apiece with the "Firefighter" award. Then use the thumper to toss them into the air, and head shot each one in slow motion. You then get the "Headshot" and "Trap Shooting" for another +125 per guy. Not counting in other shots like "First one in, Last one out" or "quick draw", you could earn almost 2,000 points just from 4 guys.
Thats what I love about this game. It challenges you to THINK in a way no other shooter does at the moment. If you had gone into that previously mentioned engagement and just shot each guy to death, you would have MAYBE cleared 100 points, and thats if you headshotted each one and moved on.
Yes the demo is barebones, and seems dull, but when the actual game comes out, those skillshots are going to be much more varied and interesting. While I doubt its going to be a Game of The Year, I think its going to be much better than most shooters released this year. But, you guys do have your own opinions which is cool. The immature vibe turns a lot of guys away (its my only real complaint with the game, as its gotten to the point where it stopped be funny) but at least give it one more go before you write it off
