Ok I am going to put this out here as the myth soul-blighter fanboy that I am and give you some little information on a decent prediction on the whole plot of Destiny without even playing the game.

Pretty much the Traveler in Destiny is the equivalent of the Leveler. Just like 40k has its fantasy and futuristic war-hammer universe, this will be the science fiction equivalent of the myth universe.

The leveler in myth was basically a supreme being who was the Savior and Destroyer of humanity. Each Cycle (AKA refered to in this cycle in destiny as the GOLDEN AGE). A more easier way to explain the concept is to give you this link to what the cycles are all about.

Anyway you will be a part of the "next cycle as the next leveler in hero form. You will archive humanity and bring them back from the brink of destruction. Only to Return as their destroyer in some evil and twisted way such as Connacht turned into Balor and Tirecies into Moaghim in Myth had.

You see in this video provided Soublighter Tried to Force the cycle but it was never proved to be BROKEN. However it may or may not have taken this many thousands of years for the cycle to take effect again. Also take notice of the words Universe and Worlds in this video.

Edit: the enemies of the frontier are known as the Fallen. Sound similar doesn't it?

As I said this is just a prediction but no one can deny the similarity from these sources all from the same company.

Id also like to bump this post in mention of another major discovery

The cabal and I will quote this from destinies home page. Also check out the image

"It's been years since they first made their presence known at the Twilight Gap. While reports have them centered on or around Mars, the true might of the Cabal is still wrapped in speculation. Awaiting more reports from the Vanguard."

Check out what the Trow look like in myth

a more detailed description of the trow (remember this game is 13 years old with 3 series of games)

he Trow are a race of giants who have been around since the beginning of the world, creations of the Goddess Nyx.
What started off as a peacful race, dedicated to thier creator, soon turned into a race that would commit genocide and destruction for other races for untold millenia. When they were attacked by a bloodthirsty race known as the Sileh'hei, they beseeched Nyx for help and she revealed to them the secret of Iron. With this knowledge, they forged weapons and armour which made them all but invincible in battle. They fought off the Sileh'hei back to their mountain caves and in revenge, they hunted down and killed every last one of them.

Well, even if the plot bears similarities between the two games, you have to remember, both were made by the same developer. Even if that wasn't the case, in this day and age, there's hardly such a thing as a truly 'original' plot out there anymore. Chances are, there have been variations upon variations of said plot in any storytelling medium you can think of.

Part of the mark of quality in storytelling regardless of medium however, is in its execution: How the story is told. So, if Destiny tells the same general, overarching plot as Myth 2, if it's told well, I won't care, I'll still enjoy it.

... Though, I haven't played Bungie's Myth series (And I probably should, regardless of the fact that it probably wouldn't be to my tastes) would make it easier for me to just enjoy Destiny. C'est la vie.

well bioshock is pretty much a watered down system shock 2 and nobody gave a shit so why should they care about this.
i haven't played the myth games or even heard of them, i assume thats because im fairly young in the grand scheme of things, so maybe people my age dont carae. not to mention they are too different types of games made by the same dev so why not use the same plot, people have been doing this for years know, so all we can do is hope the game isgood and does the original story justice.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say instead of 'ripping' the plot off, they are going to link the worlds together in an intentional way. If Destiny is set at the beginning of a new age of Darkness after an extended Golden age then that would be pretty awesome in my books, I played the Myst games when I was very young and so don't remember too much from them but I know I enjoyed them and to see the story continued (kind of) is something I would be quite excited about

Yes, I think they will link the worlds which would be incredible. The history of the myth series was told by journeymen who were like book-keepers of history. However a lot of the histories in myth were lost or forgotten due to the sheer amount of death and destruction and that is why when you watch and listen to how the narration is carried out in the ending of myth 2. He quotes the other person as being extremely old at such a young age.

The Leveler as you can also see in the youtube video never dies. He get burned, hung and drawn and buried but he pretty much never ever dies. There is a possibility that in the future his head can be attached to cybernetics with the new technology available Or that even the giant globe thing is the leveler with his brain/head inside. This I will admit is a further stretch of possibility.
