(Yes folks, I actually used the search function for once!)

Today I received an email from my college and I finally got to see what my second semester's timetable/schedule looked like. And guess what, it's super busy to the point that I'll be spending all day there. So here's my problem: I've had a lovely one week break and going back to college just depresses the hell out of me right now.

So I ask you dear Escapees, how do you to motivate yourself to keep going after a long school (collage/work) break? I'm an instant gratification lover type of girl, so getting good grades just doesn't motivate me that much. Any and all ideas are welcome!

I'm afraid going to college or university doesn't grant much in terms of instant gratification so the only motivation you have is that of the long term future.

Sorry, man.

I don't really have motivation to go back to school, I just tell myself that it won't be that bad.

Hated high school (who didn't?) but loved college. So much so I got 2 degrees. I actually didn't care for the breaks because I had to be away. Too bad I couldn't bottle that feeling I'd make millions, lol.

Well, it's a bit silly, perhaps, but a few days before I went back, I always bought myself a batch of some sort of ridiculously bad-for-me-but-tasty snack that I did not allow myself to eat any of until I got back to college. Gave me something to look forward to, minor as that something may have been.

Well, for my schedule, I'm only in school for four half-days out of the week, so every weekend seems like a break to me. It's hard to be motivated if you don't like your classes, but I you make yourself think you like them, it helps.

I have made it three years into school with almost no real motivation. I almost live in the campus design room (for theatre design). I just find motivation with my friends who all have the same problem I do. "Here we are in college, whats the point"

Sorry to say, I really don't think there is such a thing as "instant gratification" for school work. Not unless you reward yourself with a shot every time you complete an assignment.

I just remember that I'm doing it so I can get a decent job rather than flipping burgers. I had a day where I was in school from 10am-9pm with literally no time to do much besides snacks. It was rough but I got through it by creating a competition with other students (it was labs mostly) in my mind, it made it fun and productive.

That's simply brilliant! And since I love junk food I'll certainly try to do that.

Just do it and be done with it. That's my advice. I could be worse. I went to a full time school, and not what normal people consider full time.

8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
4 hour lecture followed by 4 hour lab.

Actually had class for 32 hours straight one weekend.

I'm sure you can handle a few classes.

Well, I don't go to school because it was too much stress, I hated the people and I was on the verge of putting a bullet in my brain with my father's pistol, so I'd recommend staying away from school

I'm still in 6th form (England) and I'm in my final year. To say I'm running on empty would be a huge understatement.

I finished my compulsory time at school and thought: "Fuck that" I'm not going back to school for another 4 years in collage. I now work full time in a job I love and spend my lovely moneys on ridiculous stuff that makes me happy.

If that helps your situation: Yay

If it doesn't: My humble apologies

I tried tom look at the big picture and make myself go back to school.
(i just got accepted to college)
But i ended up making myself feel better by saying that while im away i can sneak to the closest Mass Merchandiser before or after College day of school and buy a game/Anime Boxset amd hide it in my stuff so i wont haft to ask for a ride to get it and get an ear full from my dad.

I usually work best if there is a punishment for failure. For me, not doing well in school = all funds cut off and basically I would be screwed and on the streets. So that works for me.
