But the Escapist Bombed It............

I recently finished playing Deadly Premonition and couldn't be happier. It is, by far, one of the bests games I have ever played. Being a mash up of Twin Peaks, tongue-and-cheek humor, and an over the top Japanese imagining of American culture, I am shocked that this game isn't selling more. I understand it's flaws that limit it to a smaller fan base, but it should have a big enough cult following to sell much better.

The only reason I even heard about this game was because Unskippable parodied the game while essentially ripping it a new asshole. However, watching the episode(s), piqued my curiosity and I decided to give it a shot. Best $20.00 I've spent in some time!!

Now I ask you, have there been any games that got panned by the escapist (or any other source) that ACTUALLY made you go out and get? If so, what and why?

Just about every terrible game I've read a review for, I'll try it. ...I can't think of any off hand though, I'll edit if I think of some. The reason why is usually how I think about things. Bad games can still have good ideas...so I'll see if I can find the good ideas.

Well, to be fair, Unskippable doesn't REVIEW games, it just makes fun of their cut scenes. Whether the games themselves are good or not is quite irrelevant.

Yahtzee ripped WET a new hole to use, but I actually got it and played it more than any other game I own, despite its little flaws. Awesome soundtrack too.

REALLY doesnt like it in some way i would pretty much egnore him.
i mean he can find bad things to say about nearly anything ever.

As for Deadly Premonition, I'd say most sites that actually reviewed it and didn't just mention it in passing did actually like it. Heck, it pretty much took over one episode of G4tv.com's Feedback even though it wasn't supposed to be the game of the day simply because the crew all enjoyed it so much.

Both of which were featured on Unskippable. I saw them and they peaked my interest.

It made me want to go and try them out. I was happy that I did.

Metro 2033 got a very bad review (2 out of 5), I thought it deserved much better.
