Assassin's Creed 2: After the big shockity-shock plot twist WTF event thingy, the credits roll while you're playing Desmond as they leave their hideout.

I thought Red Dead Redemption would end when you killed Bill Williamson. Boy was I pleasantly surprised to find the game was a whole lot longer. Now there was how to do a right proper story!

When I first played Bastion I was like "Only 6 cores that's it? Short game...", but sure enough, in the words of the Rucks "It ain't over yet, not by a long shot".
Bill was the guy that almost killed John right? Oh and I was the same with Bastion. I was like :( that's it? but wait there's more. YES!!!!

The very first time was with Sonic & Knuckles back on the good ol' Sega Genesis. I have played the first three Sonic titles and was psyched when I got Sonic & Knuckles for Christmas. I spent a couple of weeks playing it and getting all the Chaos Emeralds with Sonic. I thought that I was just going to get a different ending.

I was wrong.

What came before the final boss in the Death Egg Zone was pure epicness.

[sub]Yes, I'm aware that this is gameplay from Sonic 3 & Knucles, but aside from using Hyper Sonic, there really is no difference.[/sub]

On top of that, you could actually mount any of the previous Sonic titles on top of the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge for extra contently like Blue Spheres (an infinite Special State mode), Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 & Knucles (which allowed you to save your game and play through both games at once).

This is why Sonic & Knuckles remains as my favorite game of all time.

The post ending stuff added about 15 more hours to the game:

This is the one pokemon game I can point to that has amazing story. Why? The extra story beyond that goes REALLY dark, not the shitty dark like Sonic used to try to do, I mean dark as in, "Toy Story 3" leveled dark.

You and your partner actually CONSIDER suicide at one point

More recently it's happened with Okami. The game builds up to a fight with the main antagonist (or so you think), Orochi. But when you do that you find out you're actually only about 2/3 of the way through the game! There was another guy behind it the whole time! Orochi was just one of many minions. That was damned awesome. I would have been happy with the game being the length I originally thought it was going to be, but then it just kept getting better.
Pretty much this, was so glad there was still loads more to do in this great game. Although I will admit I thought something was off since you only have around half the brush techniques by that point.

I was playing a point and click game called Book of Unwritten Tales and I was like well that character was a bit pointless he's only been here five minutes and I'm about to get to the end.

But no it wasn't the end.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

Your galaxy is being destroyed by "Executioners" a mysterious alien race which is killing everything! You must find the Time Gate or something, I forget, but, basically, it's built up as a "This is the final thing" kinda deal. Something to do with collecting artifices and "The Creator" and that kind of stuff, basically, you need to summon a divine entity to save you, so, you spend the game collecting things to summon him.

Anyway, you get to the gate, and you're surrounded by executions, no options left.

You go through the gate.

You discover your world is just a computer simulation and the executioners are an Anti-virus.

Wat?

From there you have to go on and save your galaxy from being deleted in the real world so your world (Which is actually a video game) can continue existing.
