Buy Skyrim now or wait for GOTY editions?

Take it from someone who found the original game so bland it was only worth playing with dozens of mods - Skyrim is worth playing for Dragonborn. Get it when it inevitably goes really cheap during a Steam sale.

I was never going to do anything else.

Depends on if you can get the base game for cheap, since the DLC comes in at $45, no matter what.

Wait for the GOTY Edition, in my opinion.

I found the game boring, I wish I did not buy it. Don't bother.

While, Personally, I felt that It wasn't as great as Oblivion, I still felt that Skyrim was pretty good.

I'd wait for the GOTY edition though, because Dawnguard and Dragonborn add alot to the game that kind of felt missing when it launched. Vanilla Skyrim suffered from a HUGE lack of Conjuration spells and armor variety, but I feel the expansions add enough of those to remedy the problem. To be fair, all the schools of magic gain alot from the expansions, not just conjuration.

if you haven't bought it by now you might as well just wait for the whatever they're calling the "all the dlc" version
