My current laptop has a fried graphics card; so I need a new computer. My question is; what should I get? It doesn't have to be a laptop (I would prefer that it isn't), my budget is 2-3000 dollars Australian. I want something with a bit of versatility as I still have to do schoolwork on it, but having a gaming orientated computer would be great.

3000 AUD. You can get a beast, although do you have to buy a screen and other peripherals?
You should easily be able to to an i7 gtx480 type set up with that kind of dosh, i spend half that on a similar set up. Depends where you are buying from, Do you have a place? If not I'd recommend Melbourne based site http://pccasegear.com/ I havn't bought from there, but they pretty much always match the whole sale prices I can get through my dad who works at a tech store.
