Alright, so here's the deal.
I've been doing some research, and I found out that I need a portable console to take the boredom away from traveling. Ferries and such. Of course it'll be used in the couch at home aswell, but that's a given.

At any rate, I've been looking into both the PSP and the DS.
Since Sony is coming out with the new PSP GO soon, I figured I'd go with Nintendo's DS.

Another thing that persuaded me into the DS is that there really arent that many good games for the PSP, the only one I would want is the sequal to Valkyria Chronicles, but that one aint out yet.

Since I also like to enjoy my good old GBA games, I am not going to buy the DSi, since it just adds features I am not interested in.
DS Lite is where it's at!

Anyways, to the point!

I need recommenadations of games, good games.
The ones I am currently planning on getting are as follows :
The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon

I might also get Chrono Trigger, but I am not entirely sure on that one.

If there are games similar to these in greatness, please do recommend them.
Please don't recommend any sport/racing/pokemon games.

Some of the Kirby games are good. New Super Mario Brothers.

I bought my DS when they came out all those years ago, and in all honesty, they're not all that much fun. Not enough games, in my opinion.

That's not to say you won't enjoy it though.

a good title for idle playing that you can stop and come back to is Animal Crossing, it isn't particularly challenging but it is a good title to take with you when you travel because you won't finish it before your trip is over.

I should probably mention that I aint too fond of Platformers.
Of course, I've enjoyed things like Super Mario, Donkey Kong etc in my past, but they're rather stale nowadays :>

Isn't Animal Crossing a rather (in lack of better words) childish game?
I can't really say for sure, but it just seems like a Harvest Moon with less to do :>
Correct me if I am wrong though!

The Castlevania games, Phoenix Wright series, Elite Beat Agents (or if you can import it, the musically superior Ossu! Tatakae! Oendan!) the Mario and Luigi game (it's an RPG, not a platform game), Advance Wars games are always great.

hmm...(roots through collection)

Well there are some good gameboy advance games like Zelda: Link to the past with four swords and pokemon. There is the pokemon pearl version which is fun, hamsterz and dogz for animal people.

I would also reccommend getting the psi because they are a lot of fun games coming out. Like a wario ware mini game thing where you have to pull faces and other such nonsense, great fun (I live in Japan, so I get games before anywhere else, only disadvantage is that it is all in Japanese)

Guitar hero is a blast and mario 64 is pretty good too. Beware of handcramps though.

I played animal forest and really enjoyed it. But the repitition and slowness can get on your nerves sometime.

It is a fairly simple game, I'll grant that for sure. When I travel I like mindless easy things to relieve the stress of flying/driving. I guess it's all about preference :)

I won't get the DSi, due to the fact that I find the camera and music playback to be gimmicks.
I've the Wii now since it was released, and if the store on the DSi is going to be anything like the Wii's store, then there won't be much interesting content.
The DSi can't play my GBA games either, so that's a big no-no.

Anyways, I've been looking through the recommendations thusfar, and I must say that there are alot of strange games out ;P

The Phoenix Wright games look kinda interesting, and Animal Crossing doesn't look half bad either.
Super Mario 64 DS looks nice aswell :>

I'm somewhat of an RPG / Strategy nut, so recommendations towards those would be sweet.

Another question; How important is it to get screen protectors for the DS?

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga - Endless Frontier

Final Fantasy III (It got a different story from the NES version also this is the REAL third game, not FF6 with Sabin, Terra, Locke and the other guys)

Those are my suggestions. Just look on Youtube for videos.

I don't think I'll be getting any castlevania games though, not too fond of platformers.

Final Fantasy.. I've never really gotten into those games.
I played 1 & 2 when I was in the army on a GBA, but I had to stop halfway through #2 cause it was so damn annoying to have to fight a monster every second square you moved to.
It was just too much of the same after having just beat #1 :>

Is #3 any different in that sense?

Professor Layton and the Curious Village would be my pick, and the new Layton and Golden Sun games should be great too.

Professor Layton is like a point and click adventure, similar to Monkey Island / Discworld etc?
If so, it's pretty neat.
Especially if there's humor added to the mix!

Bugger! Ah well, Animal Crossing is pretty good, and I've invested a long time into Super Mario 64 DS. But those aren't important. Pheonix Wright is where it's at!
