**Pew Pew** <<Lazer noise

Then go for it, there are a lot of great options for the Xbox, and this is coming from a guy who worshipped the PS2.[/quote]

Yeah I know what you mean, I haven't gotten any of the new systems yet because well.... 1. I don't think Bill Gates needs any more money.... And 2. I played some PS3 at a friends house and I feel it kinda fails compared to the 2

You're lining SOMEBODY'S pockets with console money, might as well be Gates.
The PS3 is an amazing system, but lacking in games. The 360 seems to gain more exclusives, anyway, be it through full titles, earlier demos, or even DLC.

Well the "newest" System I have is a PS2 and I like Phantasy Star,Dragonquest,Persona 3..... Games like that ohh and .Hack
In that case get:

. Lost Odyssey
. Blue Dragon
. The Last Remnant
. Magna Carta 2
. Tales of Vesperia.
Been meaning to ask about Manga Carta 2. Is the battle system in that one the same deal as in the first one?
Thankfully not - I'm not quite sure what it is to be honest; they're advertising it as turn-based, yet all the gameplay footage makes it appear real-time. Regardless I've heard good thins about it.
I do believe it's real time. From what I just finished watching, it looks like the first battle system done slightly better than the first, since all the characters are actually doing something.

Regardless, due to my experience with the first one, I wouldn't recommend Magna Carta 2, because absolutely nothing endeared itself to me about that game. In fact, the only thing I remember about that game is the stupid, undone battle system.

Cool thanks.... But which Xbox do you think I should get? See I'm kinda a die hard Sony guy...I planned on getting a PS3 and saying Screw Microsoft, but as things sometimes go awry....I'm wanting to get a 360 first but should I buy the Elite or one of the other ones?Plus I have to stay in the cash range of around exactly 600$
The 360 "Core" I believe is a discontinued line and I know nothing about the "Arcade" version either.

The 360 "Pro" and "Elite" are probably your default choices but they are not really different from one another apart from memory storage capacity. The Pro has either the 20 or 60 GB HDD capacities while the Elite has the 120GB HDD storage capacity. 250GB limited editions of the Elite do exists though.

As a whole, the Elite tends to RRoD less than the Pro (since it was released later than the original) but it's not completely immune to crashes. Also the Elite had a price drop which suspiciosly coincided with the PS3 Slim's release (just so you know the PS3 is cheap now..well cheaper than it was before). That said though the Pro has had several modifications done to it, the recent change was the introduction of the Jasper chip into the 360 Pro models which reduces power consumption and therefore heat production. That means you have a significantly reduced risk of getting a RRoD or an e74 error code. Also it comes with a new 175W power supply unit instead of the old 203W and it's quieter.

Both versions are backwards compatible (if you have original Xbox games) and both can play every single 360 game out there. All other essentials are standard for both and I agree on getting wireless headsets. Both also gets you to Xbox live but I have no idea about US prices, sorry!.

As for games, well there are just way to many 360 games worth mentioning and I'll get bored trying to list them. Best bet is to google 360 games and search by genre

I think Halo ODST is better than Halo 3 for those without Halo games. It's a shorter game, but it's one that (finally) breaks the mold of the Master Chief "use x on y" strategy. You actually have to watch yourself, which is a nice change of pace.
Besides, if you're in for the multiplayer you get Firefight, and all of Halo 3's multiplayer + DLC.

Okay well this is an interesting conversation thus far can we get to the point? 600$ Wanna get X box.....Which one? Also any good RPG's?As well can I run live on a cable instead of wireless? + What kinda headset should I get? I forgot to include that....
Hey you, I'll help!
Get a regular pro console (60gb hard drive) for $250. Those suckers come with a wired headset and a wireless controller. Yes you can run an ethernet to the back of the 360 for Live (wifi adapters cost about $60 more). Live itself is $50 a year, or you can pay on a month by month basis. Your best bet for scoring a year of Live cheap is to keep an eye out for when they put the pre-paid cards on sale for about $30. All the games you mentioned are good, but besides Final Fantasy 11, there are really no MMO-esque RPGs. Star Ocean and Lost Odyssey are some good RPG's as well as Blue Dragon (although Blue Dragon is a little funky). So if you buy all the games from like Amazon used they come out to around $120 total. So you've spent $370, and you'll want to pick up a play and charge kit (about $20) and Live (full price if you can't find it on sale) and it all comes out to about $440. Which leaves you plenty of money to go see the movie and invite some friends. If you have anymore questions don't be afraid to drop me a PM! Welcome to the escapist!

Okay I was wondering which unit should I get and what good games there are for the 360..... I have 600$ to work with and I need to save enough to go see Zombieland on the second.... So keeping that in mind which Xbox 360 Consoles and games should I get..... Plus How much is Xbox live and can I use a cable hookup instead of wireless to run live? The games I plan on getting are COD4, Left 4 Dead, and Dead Rising (maybe) I was wondering if tehre are any good RPG's for the 360.... Maybe something of an MMO type?
First off: Welcome! Welcome to Escapistmagazine.com! You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining Internet Utopias. I thought so much of Escapistmagazine.com, that I elected to establish my administration, here, in the Forums, so thoughtfully provided by our Moderators. I am proud to call Escapistmagazine.com my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through to parts unknown, welcome, to Escapistmagazine.com. It's safer here. (been waiting ages to use this :D)

Well if you're looking for a MMO for the 360 (God knows why), Borderlands comes out soon. I'm going to assume you live in the US, so if you do a Pro will do you well plus the money left over you can use for a Gold subscription, around $80 AUD (use a money converter). An internet cable will do you well, but if you can't reach your router and you have alot of money (first one applies to me, not the second :( ) by a wireless network adapter (i got mine for $120 AUD). Also assuming you live in the US, L4D 2 comes out soon, so lucky for you.

There's a special edition Xbox coming out with Modern Warfare 2. It's meant to have a big mama jamma hard drive that (supposedly) won't be for retail release. I'd suggest that and oblivion.

Even though the dude probably isn't online right now, I would suggest not buying L4D as L4D 2 is coming out soon. And it would be a waste really.

Have the 360's dropped in price yet? If not then wait for them to do so. Just noticed your choice of games as well. Why get them when all of those have sequels on the horizon? As for RPGs theres Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, if you want oldies and Dragon Age if you want something new. (forgot to mention Fable as well.)

Whether you get the Pro or Elite, make sure it's the Jasper chipset. Here's how you can tell:

Lot Number: 0843X OR ABOVE
Team: FDOU
Manufacture Date: 10/23/2008
PSU Output: 150w, may be 175w'
Console Power Rating: 12.1A

The power rating is the main one. The new chipset runs a lot quieter, uses less power and apparently is 'immune' to the RROD.

As for games, many of the best titles have been listed here already, like Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Oblivion, etc.

Don't bother using the wireless for the 360 though, it sucks. Stick to your ethernet cable.
