I am very tempted to buy minecraft on my laptop but i want to ask a few things about it first to anyone who plays it

1. Is it really worth £10?
2. Once you buy it, is there any additional costs?
3. If i buy it on my laptop, can i play it on another computer? (including my own account)
[[EDIT]]4. Also is it Minecraft.net where you buy it, or can it be bought on steam?

Thanks all

1. Definitly, I've poured way more time into minecraft than I have into some ?50 games.
2. So far all the features that were added later were free, and there is no reason to assume they won't be in the future.
3. You don't buy the files, but an acount to log in, think of Steam. So yes, any pc, any place, any time.

You should definitely try it in my opinion =D

1. Your mileage may vary, but I've had a lot of fun with it.
2. Nope.
3. You can download and install it as many times as you like, but you can only have it running on one machine at a time. Presumably this is to stop people from having multiple selves on servers.

EDIT:

No, only via minecraft.net. The game relies on you being signed in, so what you're really buying is the account rather than the game (and that's also why you can only have one instance running at a time).

Only minecraft.net

And Yes, worth it. No, no additional costs. And Yes. You can download the launcher anywhere, log in, and play.

minecraft.net only.

Interestingly, one of the splash screens on the main menu is "Not Available on Steam!" It's accurate.

Alpha purchasers were promised that there would never be additional costs for any updates, but that promise was removed for beta purchasers, but there have yet to be any priced updates.

I've never heard a gamer ask if it's worth a tenner. Especially when people pay 40-50 for Call of Franchise: The Sequelling every year.

Now I think it's worth £15. It costed that much for the Alpha, but when Notch put it to Beta he raised the price.

For play time: Yes, especially with friends.

2. Once you buy it, is there any additional costs?

Nope.

3. If i buy it on my laptop, can i play it on another computer? (including my own account)

Yep, doesn't matter how many different places it's logged in, it will work.

[[EDIT]]4. Also is it Minecraft.net where you buy it, or can it be bought on steam?

Only at Minecraft.net... you can register it as a non-Steam game, so you can play Minecraft and use Steam at the same time.

I will warn you though, if you are not creative you will bore easily.

There is no goals in the game, it's just "here is a big sandbox with stuff in and monsters". So if your not into making huge masterpieces, I would give it a miss ... which is the reason I am.

I'm quoting you because this is important. People who buy the game now get the full game free when it's done. However, we do not get any expansions for free.

You'd be surprised. I'm the least creative person ever, and I love it. You just need to give yourself a project, but it doesn't need to be creative. I know people who do, in fact, make giant artistic projects. I also know people who's project is just to mine a stack (unit, meaning 64, because that's how things stack in the inventory) of diamonds. Others explore the overworld and Hell, making temporary bases on the way. I, personally, devote myself to making complex minecart (i.e, railroad) systems.

Heh, I play minecraft in the least creative way imaginable.
I don't build anything above ground in order to preserve the "pristine landscape."

Then, I dig massive grid mines below ground, for no other purpose than to gather materials in order to extend those grid mines.

Currently, I have 2783 diamons.

Just want to put a note in here to clarify the pricing system:

If you buy it you won't HAVE to spend anything on it again.

As far as im aware once the game leaves BETA all updates will be done in big chunks and will cost. You do have the choice to pay for these updates or not.

This means it will never affect single player.
BUT, if you don't update but you may loose some of the multi-player aspects if all the servers decide to update.

Oh and FYI its an amazing game well worth £10 in my opinion, I think im addicted tho :S
