At first I was really really enjoying skyrim, I've put over 40 hours into this game so far, but the more I played it the more I realized...

This game is worth way more than the $60 I payed for...

I feel as if I cheated someone... like buying a real Rolex for few hundred bucks

...

=(
I wholly support this post, and am so glad some people feel this way, especially after spending time reading that other topic filled with people who are so cheap they're waiting for the GOTY version before buying it.

I know what you mean OP. I got this game for £20 (FIRST HAND; DON'T WORRY (Bee pre order discount)). Can't believe the amount of content in this game. My journal has run amok!

Wow, really?
I mean, REALLY?
Now you even want to shove more money into publishers asses?
This is so; how do I say this and not be insulting... "displaying special needs and an alternative lifestyle" of you. Besides this, I'm just speechless at how much the capital has infested your brain.
It's more about supporting the developers that people love for making outstanding games, as opposed to the annual shooters that make a lot more.

You say cheap. I say wise.

I don't like to buy buggy games which are of moderate enjoyment, and have large amounts of DLC to buy as well if I can wait 12 months and get free DLC, a patch for the bugs, and still moderate enjoyment.

Meh. I don't really see the wisdom in it. It's cheap. To avoid paying a little more now (and I emphasize "a little", because over the course of that year-and-a-half you'll be waiting, it comes out to a very insignificant amount of money you'll be saving) you're willing, by your own admission, to sacrifice some enjoyment (unless you only thought you'd get "moderate" enjoyment even today?). That's silly. It's cheap.

A question for long-term followers of Elder Scrolls.

Suppose I want to get into the series. Is there any benefit to me "catching up" on the series by getting Oblivion first (or even Morrowind? Nothing earlier than that as I'm using Xbox), or should I just dive in with Skyrim?

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to game or fim series, it just doesn't feel "right" if I don't start at the beginning.

Heh, I've thought pretty much the same thing since I bought the game, it makes all other games seem ridiculously expensive for what you get in comparison.

Still, this has worked out brilliantly for Bethesda, so I wouldn't feel guilty. I'm so enamoured with the game that I'm ready and willing to throw money at anything they decide to release for it. (And I mean anything... Horse armour, here I come!)

This is why i bought it on console!

So in 4-6 months when modding is at its peak, i can buy it again :D That way i can support my favorite game twice, and have a PC version thats completely bug free!

Nah, the games are set in the same universe, but other than that they are entirely separate. They're also set years and years apart, so generally the only references you find to the previous games are in history books.

I get where you are coming from but the real issue is other developers not making a game worth the money they charge. Yea, Skyrim is one of the few games worth more than the normal price, but the majority of the games out there aren't worth what they are charging.

Well, Bethesda aren't stopping you from buying the same game twice.
Then there's still tons of overpriced DLC to expect and a platinum/GOTY/whatever version with some DLC included in the game.

Go nuts and keep buying the same game, if you want to give more money.

Blimey, I've still got a copy of 'SuperMetroid3' for the Super Nintendo with the same price tag as Skyrim on the box, that games gotta be about 15+ years old by now.
Ever heard of inflation/deflation?

Yeah - your point?

Yeah, bro. Bro it up, bro. But seriously, I completely agree with you. There are things that make Skyrim look interesting, but I think it'll be a good while and the price will be a lot lower before I try it out. Especially since I've hated the previous 2 installments of the franchise.

As for you OP, you should be ashamed of yourself for using a provocative title to lure viewers just to tell us how much you like the game.
Moreover, the way in which you did it makes it look like you feel that Bethesda should be taking more of your money. Bethesda, the multimillion multinational corporation sharing in the unequal divide of capital in the world and thereby general social decline. But if you still want to get rid of that guilt, put another 60 in an envelope and post it to them. I'm sure they won't mind.

I just wanted to say, I noticed you saying this earlier as well. And I just feel that you can't judge games in this way. You've always got to give a little leaniency when it comes down to the technological envoriment in which a game and, to a greater degree, all things are made. I mean, the wheel and fire have done most for the human race ever, but they look so simple today.
All I'm saying is that in 10 years time when we're playing virtual reality Super Metroid with wires coming out of our necks, Skyrim won't look so impressive anymore. And hey, you never know; maybe Super Metroid 3 was what inspired some of the developers for Skyrim to become game designers in the first place.
