The only time i remember liking those toys is when they used to give away lego with happy meals. That was freakin awesome. Did they do that elsewhere? This was australia in like, late 80's early 90's btw

The only time I made a big deal about the toys was when I got two toys in one happy meal ha ha.

I do think it's a little insane, basically they're placing the blame away from the people that buy the happy meals and moving the blame onto something else that doesn't deserve the blame. Parents don't blame the toys, blame yourselves. >.<

Yeah, in Sweden as well, in the early 90's.

I cansee why they would giving them away as they are a waste of plastic and end up in landfill 90% of the time. I dont understand why people keep watsing plastics, they are the lest ecologically sound material there is, and they use precious oil which we dont have a whole lot left of.

When I was a kid, the toys in McDonalds' Happy Meals did exert some influence over me (I was an impressionable little kid). I guess at times I was a bit of a brat about it too. But when I grew out of the toys, I kind of grew out of the food as well... I just don't like McDonalds' food any more.
So I can see why the idea would seem like a good idea, but, as others have said, not all kids are the same. Some genuinely enjoy the food, so it won't stop them from eating there at all.

But if it disuades even a few kids from starting eating unhealthily, surely it'll have been a success?

It is human nature to want fatty, fast, processed foods. I can't explain why but it kind of sells itself and calling the toys the blame is just flat-out stupid.

As a child, long, long ago, I would make a deal with my parents to just buy a cheeseburger, fries and a coke and not the happy meal. In return, they would take me to the local toy store and buy a G.I Joe or Transformer. I never really liked the el cheapo plastic Mc D's toys all that much.

Part B.) Jeffery Dahmer in a tutu.

The toys were probably some kind of motivation back then, I mean, which kid don't want bright toys, and I doubt they all have the economic common sense, knowing how much said toys are really worth. But, pricey or not, the toy will still be his/hers, good reason enough to want it. Now does it really help sell the meals, if there isn't that many choices of restaurants in the region, maybe, less choices plus a bonus. Is the law crazy, not that much, I've seen so much stupid laws getting voted lately, the only motivation the government really have is, he needs to get elected again, these laws makes them look involved in the health, security, good of people.

Here's another recent law that got accepted where I'm from, If you have your driver's license for less then 3 years, or are not aged 21 or older, you cannot drive from midnight to 5 am. Meaning, you can't drive when traffic is low, or if you have 2 years more experience then someone who just began to drive at 23..It is a strange world we live in

I did that once for those Dinosaur hand puppets, but for the most part, no. I just want my damn food.

I think the point is to try and stop fast food companies from deliberately drawing children so that they get addicted to terrible food for life. They'd also need to ban the play places. And that damn clown.

I hate fast food. So if they banned McDonald's altogether, I would be happy.

When I was a larva, the fast food chain toys were often all I had to play with.

It was pretty sad now that I think about it.

So -- obviously the toy is doing no harm. Children young enough to warrant a happy meal only eat where their parents take them.

I'm still alarmed that some places don't allow chips with burgers. You don't go to McDonalds to have fruit. It's not like adults have to substitute and their metabolism isn't nearly as high.
