From Cod 4 they will do a good job. Maybe this time they wont use maps from the first call of duty. what do you think?

I think if they had kept the developers from COD4, they may have improved upon it. However, as it is, I will not get my hopes up.

Credge... I actually sighed when i read your post, you mindblowingly smart person. (and i mean that in a positive way. no sarcasm)

Jesus hopping Mary Kate and Ashley, why??? You'd think they at least got a HINT when modern warfare received such praise all around, but noooo... I am so pessimistic about CoD5 now, that i think i'm going to go ahead and review it already.

It SUCKS!

So the series is going away from the morally ambiguous style its latest game had and back to the black-and-white morals of the original three? Pity.
That's my biggest sentiment, really. I loved CoD and CoD2. I found CoD4 to be a bit morally hard to...Justify. I suppose that was the point of it, but I liked the style of the original games' "Kill them all. They're freaking Nazis" gameplay.
Instead of "Kill them all. They're...protecting their country from invaders! How dare they?!"
Also, I hope CoD5 nerfs grenades a little bit. I mean... Jesus Slutmuffin. I don't think I ever got killed by anything but grenades or sniper rifles in CoD4 multiplayer.

In Veteran, they throw grenades like there's some sort of discount sale...

Anyways, I've heard the guys who handled COD3 will be handling COD5, so I'll ignore it. Anyways, I have COD6 to look forward to...

Amen.

Whatever happened to Vietnam? Why are game developers neglecting that Vietnam existed? Have you ever even seen Platoon? Make a game that stays faithful to that formula: sneaking through the jungles, convincingly rendered teammates on the brink of insanity, and intense firefights and village raids, and you've got a game that hasn't been done before on the current generation of consoles. If there's anything the CoD series needs, it's NOT another WW2 installment. Making the first decent Vietnam game for the 360/PS3 could be great for the series.

To be fair, Vietnam was extremely...shall we say morally grey? A game that faithfully recreates the Vietnam war would make Call of Duty 4 look like Mario Brothers from a morality point of view.
Imagine it, your teammates are psychotic maniacs and civilian-slaughterers. Your enemies are invisible (which greatly contributes to the random and wanton slaughter of unrelated civilians) and the entire REASON for being in the war is iffy, at absolute best. The entire existance of the vietnam war is a huge argument for the ultimate futility of war itself.
Not to mention that the government covers up as much bad stuff as possible, successfully keeping things such as heroic actions AND mass-murder hidden at the exact same time for 20 years.

Then again, a game that made you feel sick to the stomach for being part of the horrible bunch of maniacs you're part of would be REALLY interesting. So it might work!

Guys, CoD 5 estimated at Q3 '08.

Worse, they rehired fucking Treyarch. Expect a horrible game again, like CoD3.

However, they get a half cookie point for making it for all the consoles plus PS2 plus the PC.

Anyway, it's theorized it's set in the Pacific Theatre.

I have nothing against Treyarch. They may do things a bit differently than Infiniy Ward but they still know how to make a game fun. Also, i gotta agree with Fatalis67. No Vietnam? I also think they should do World War I.

To be fair Treyarch probably started developing COD5 before COD4 was released. Can hardly expect them to go back to the drawing board, especially with Activisions insistence on one COD a year till they milk it dry.

As for Vietnam, I can think of a few vietnam games: BF Vietnam, Shell Shock Nam, Vietcong, Platoon, & Conflict: Vietnam. According to Gamespot theres a fair few Vietnam titles, almost all mediocre at best.

what about Conflict:Vietnam?

also this has been said many times CoD games are made by 2 seperate companies in a strategy to make one a year. they are made by treyarch and infinity ward in a pattern going
treyarch>inf ward>treyarch etc etc
hence the speed and why its in WW2 since they couldnt have changed it after seeing CoD4's success otherwise thats a year of work down the drain
so get ready for another craptacular treyarch made CoD. if youve played 3 you can get ready for a repeat

Tell me about it. I've just finished it on Vet and I never want to see a grenade indicator again.

umm... trench warfare? I don´t know about you but "Hold the position for 4 months!" doesn´t sound too exciting an objective to me. Also the main infantry weapon was the grenade... That brings incredible innovation to the multiplayer, doesn´t it?.

hmmm, well they can't possibly screw COD5 up as badly as COD3, right? RIGHT?
Well, they could keep it console exclusive, though I don't think I'd care much if it's as "good" as cod3

I don't so much mind the grenades, as I mind the absurd throwing arm the soldiers seem to have. 300 meters? no problem.

And don't even get me started on one-hit-kill noobtub... err grenade launchers.
