Vietnam's not gonna happen. The game wouldn't be patriotic enough.
Lol yeah It'd be you as... Jerry Kohn, a guy whodoes absolutely nothing, gets 3 purple hearts, and becomes a washed-out senator.

....Could you at least do some research before jumping to conclusions?

Anyways, I would buy a good Vietnam game. Unfortunately, right now my choices are limited to Platoon (NES game that sucks), Conflict: Vietnam (meh), and Battlefield: Vietnam (actually pretty fun).

In spite of nade spammers that I seem to keep playing against, COD4's multiplayer is fantastic. Getting achievements and unlocking weapons, upgrades, and perks gives you a sense of accomplishment that goes beyond results on the scoreboard at the end of a game (especially if you are, like me, among the lowest-scoring players :) ). However, COD2's multiplayer is also pretty awesome, especially when playing rifle-only servers. Haven't played COD and COD3, no interest.

I don't think it's fair to damn COD5 based solely on knowledge of who's making it and the fact that it's going to be set in WWII. Those who think it's gonna suck so bad should just be happy with the wealth of great games we're spoiled with right now.

How about this idea: Instead of a game that takes place in WWII, they make a game that takes places in the Cold War. They should really elaborate the idea with Price's instructor. In my opinion, it would be cool to have Pvt. Price in your team. It could work as Price is just a Highlander (TV show/ movie type of Higlander).

I think Infinity Ward or Treyarch should cover something a bit non-mainstream, like the Persian Gulf War.

Around the release of CoD3 an agreement between Activision and the guys that made CoD3 was made. Activision would make the games with even numbers (CoD2, CoD4) and the guys of the infamous failure that was CoD3 would do the odd numbers (CoD3, CoD5).

I consider all of Activision's CoDs to be brilliant (CoD1, CoD2, CoD4) and CoD3 crap.

Call of Duty 5 will be crap.

Call of Duty 6 is probably already in the making and will probably be good, but less good than CoD4, which was less good than CoD2.

Anybody see the Battlefield series in this? First one was revolutionairy, second one was the best, third one (meaning CoD4/Battlefield 1242) was okay but a failure in comparison to it's predecessors.

I don't think that anyone really sees the system your way.
The second Battlefield was Vietnam, not "2". It was never as popular as 1942 (though it is my favourite!!!)
CoD 4 is seen as the better of the two games by most magazines and gamers (CoD 2 and 4)
Yeah, I kind of ignored Vietnam because as far as I can tell it failed to hard to even mention it. I never really played any Battlefield game except for the demos and I wasn't a gamer in the Battlefield 1942 era so I guess I can't talk about that.

CoD 4 better respected by hardcore gamers than CoD 2? Well, I think that's a different opinion for everyone. Most of the hardcore gamers I know still prefer CoD 2's multiplayer over CoD 4's, and CoD 2's multiplayer popularity in general has been proved by Xfire's game tracking system for years, even after the release of CoD 4. It's at third place on www.xfire.com as I'm typing this, CoD 4 being second (1st can practically be ignored because that's almost always WoW). It's usually that way.

If they tell the story as well or better than CoD 4 then I'll be happy- People who have played the campaign would probably agree that the plot sticks in the mind a lot better than Rainbow 6, MoH (by a long shot) and most games of its genre/caliber (sorry, still doesn't come close to HL2, in my book). Heck, its idea to switch the player's perspective to that of the air-support unit's was something I genuinely hadn't expected. Same with the way they ended your experience as the American soldier- I'll confess I didn't see that coming! It's like they actually wanted the campaign to be an entertaining experience in and of itself, and not just the multi-play experience with scripted scenes between the fights against the AI! I'm looking at YOU, Tribes. I don't care if you're a decade old. You too, Star Wars: Battlefront! Shame!
Setting aside, they can only succeed with such continued examples of creativity.

CoD 5 is a real step backward for the franchise and a sure sign the publishers had no faith in CoD4 to win critical acclaim and shift units. Which it did spectacularly Nice when your boss has faith in you, eh Infinity Ward?

In my honest opinion, Tryarch is a rubbish game developer. I have nothing but contempt for them and their work. Now that they, once again, prepare to make a craptastic crapfest out of a game that deserves so much more, i get sick to my stomach.

Creativity is a word these people are allergic to, it would seem, and there is no doubt a WWII game is in the making... Urgh...

Whatever happened to Vietnam? Why are game developers neglecting that Vietnam existed? Have you ever even seen Platoon? Make a game that stays faithful to that formula: sneaking through the jungles, convincingly rendered teammates on the brink of insanity, and intense firefights and village raids, and you've got a game that hasn't been done before on the current generation of consoles. If there's anything the CoD series needs, it's NOT another WW2 installment. Making the first decent Vietnam game for the 360/PS3 could be great for the series.
Never mind Vietnam, there are a few games based on that. What happened to Korea?
