Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to be Available for Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Call of Duty fans who have not yet upgraded their consoles can rest easy. Publisher Activision recently announced that the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be coming to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

In a blog post [https://blog.activision.com/community/games-blog/call-of-duty/blog/2015/06/09/call-of-duty-black-ops-3-is-coming-to-xbox-360-and-playstation-3] on the Activision website, Social Media director Scott Lowe wrote "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been designed to harness the full potential of the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. However, we know that there are still some fans that haven't made the transition to the new console hardware, which is why we're happy to share that we're working with developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3."

The post then goes on to highlight the differences one would expect to see between the older consoles and their newer generation counterparts. "The campaign mode on Xbox 360 and PS3 is currently in development with a goal of enabling two-player cooperative play, instead of the four-player cooperative campaign on next-gen. There will also be some other features and functionality built specifically for the new generation of consoles that cannot be supported on Xbox 360 and PS3. We'll be sharing more information regarding feature differences from one console generation to another later this year as launch on November 6 approaches."

Lowe also notes that there is no Wii U version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 planned.

In addition, it was recently announced [http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13005815/black-ops-iii] that Black Ops 3 will feature the likeness of Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks. Lynch will be the first athlete to appear in a Call of Duty game.

"I've been in the Super Bowl, movies, music videos, Madden. But to have your own character in Duty is, I mean, it's almost like you arrived."

That's nice to hear. I think the previous installment skipped them and didn't Ghost skip them, too?
Still will buy the PC Version once it's on a sale, sure, but that doesn't mean I can't appriciate that at least some developers still care about the previous generation when others basically left them.

Ghosts was on last gen, but offered a deal so you can preserve your stats when you changed to the (appropriate) new console.
Advanced Warfare did the same, but the last gen ports were developed by High Moon Studios. The PS3 version is woefully ignored most of the time.

OT: I imagine it will be a similar case as Advanced Warfare. When I get it, it will be on the Xbox One. I could use a Treyarch Call of Duty game with the delicious Xbox One controller, and I blame Ghosts for Activision's refusal to port to wonderful Black Ops II to current gen.

EDIT: "Also, it should be noted that there's no version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for Nintendo Wii U planned."

Oh, that's a damn shame. Black Ops II works really well on the Wii U, and I think it's a tad odd that they've decided to not port it when it will be on Xbox 360/PS3.

You could just get BO2 on PC. Its still the most played CoD on Steam and thats may or may not change with BO3.

Or you could get CS:GO at less than half the price and some 80x the active players.

Welp, there goes any interest I had.

I actually, to my surprise, enjoyed AW (even the multiplayer which is a downright shock) but if the tech isn't moving forward then I'll go back to hibernating on the series.

Cool. I think this is a good idea simply because the rest of the Black Ops series (World at War included) is on the old systems. For completion and whatnot.

Alas, if only they could get four, or even three player co op to work on the PS3. Then my friend and I wouldn't have to pester our other friend to get a PS4 by the time this game comes out.

I'm with you on that right down to the pestering of the friend to get a PS4... Seriously, the thought of me and my two friends- one, in which, is more into CoD than the rest of us by a long shot- actually working together co-op style instead of shooting one another in hilarious of ways[footnote]RPG to the face or a sniper shot to the knee?[/footnote] would really spice up out Friday Night CoD sessions significantly...

But, whatever... I guess we'll still stick with switching between MW2 and MW3 on the PS3, then... It's not like the one friend was into the Black-Ops games, anyway... *shrugs*
