Well, I used to play Jedi Accademy, and you could set up bot matches pretty well. I had lots of fun with that. I'd play as a duel-lightsaber-wielding Boba Fett. Epitome of awesomeness right there!!!

Also, the bots in Battlefront 1 were pretty hilarious. They would roll to the side if you threw a grenade at them, which is a pretty cool idea. But you could play on Bespin, on the narrow catwalks. There would usually be like 20 or 30 enemies right on these narrow catwalks, and all you had to do was throw a grenade at them, and they'd roll right off the ledge to their deaths!!!
It was pretty hilarious!!!

And the bot pilots had problems with their sight. You could look up and every other second someone would run full-speed into some rock or building, without even trying to turn.

Ah.. the good old days...

When the hell are they gonna make a Battlefront 3?

About time bots came back, and even though I still won't be getting Black Ops because it seems bland to me, (Plus Teryarch is one of the two studios I will never buy from.) the fact that it's a CoD game means it will open some floodgates and have other developers copy some factors. I hope this is one of them.

As far as best moments with bots? Would have to be just about any game in Shadowrun. Fun, fun times.

Usually I'm not a dick enough to ask that, I just haven't heard of bots in multiplayer for quite a while. If true that's fantastic. I wonder if you can still level up in like a separate bot-mode or something.

Doesn't explain it too much, but it does say there are offline bots. I saw another article that stated you did level up, but it was separate from the online XP.

Here at last, is a triple-A FPS title bringing bots back to a genre from which they should never have strayed? Man, I'm sold. I'm buying this sucker. Bots in FPS games needs a comeback and I'm damn well going to support it. In this one move Treyarch has won more respect from me than Infinity Ward ever had. Good job, team.

Um, so yeah... discussion value. Tell us your best in-game moment with multiplayer bots. Can be any game. One of my favourites was setting up a king of the hill match in a Perfect Dark arena called Fortress, which had a gladiator like pit in the centre. A shield in the middle, and lasers all around, I'd watch all those HardSims rush in and laser each other to win the hill. Change the team names to friends of mine and it was comedy GOLD!
only in certain training multiplayer modes though I think (and of course single player)
It was my understanding that most of the multilplayer was available for play with bots. You gain XP and level up just the same as in multiplayer, but with a separate tree. That's what I got from a recent article at least. Hopefully it's useful.

Most recently Vegas 2 terrorist hunts have been the most fun. Before that probably Unreal 2k3
not sure, I hope that they keep the original multiplayer without bots, but only have the bots for the training modes and in private matches as an option, that could be pretty fun.

I was playing Star Trek: Elite Force 2 in a bot match I picked up the RDM X RAD and fired the secondary mode. All the bots were fighting each other in the middle of the arena and I pretty much wiped them all into radioactive dust. Fun times.

YES! I'm so sold for this. All fps need bots, it's fun! How exactly are they being implemented? Can you just chuck them in splitscreen to add to your team? How will classes work with them? Could you get some as a killstreak reward?

I'll have to wait and see. I really, really want this game.

I hear you'll be able to customize their equipment. Probably not individually, but I guess you can make them use only pistols, or only assault rifles, turn off killstreaks and stuff like that. Pretty much everything you need to be able to have actual fun unlike in CoD online where every ************ is 13 years old with a noob tube and a grenade launcher attachment.

Ah, bots. So much fun to mess around with and you never feel guilty about it. They will be a nice contrast to online gaming.

Timesplitters 2 and killzone 2 were a blast to play with bots. Black ops is looking more and more enticing.

That sounds incredibly awesome (or awesomely incredible).

Do want!

I was having a bash at Conker's Bad Fur Day today- and got the gas canister into the release area in the basement on War. The siren went up and all the nearby bots ran desperately down to the basement to get to the safe area I was in as the doors slid down slowly. I watched as a Tediz came running down, I could have shot him but I decided to see if he'd make it. He didn't. He got pulverised under the heavy door as it squished closed!

By the way- here's the full official spiel on it from the Black Ops site:

Combat Training

News: September 20th, 2010393 Comments

Train. Train. Train. If you want to be the best, you've got to know your stuff ? your maps, your equipment, and your abilities. Hesitate and you're done for.

Welcome to the new Combat Training mode, soldiers. Strengthen your skills in Free-For-All or Team Deathmatch on any multiplayer map against a full set of Practice Dummies. Practice alone or train with other players online. The experience and currency you earn in Combat Training is saved separately from your online multiplayer soldier, but everything you unlock remains within the mode.

Combat Training is a great resource for all player levels.

New players and those typically interested only in single player can jump in to learn the basics of the multiplayer experience and get a feel for different loadouts. Familiarize yourself with the maps and evolve your fighting strategies before joining competitive play.

Veterans can use Combat Training to their advantage, as well. Work out new strategies and fine tune loadouts without affecting your kills/death ratio. Nail down formations and team chemistry with your clan, and choose the maps you need to work on to get a better sense of spawn points and player flow.

Happy hunting.

Bots eh?... this seriously has me consider buying this...
Although Killzone 2 had bots... and I prefered it to any COD game, so ill probably end up getting Killzone 3 as opposed to Black Ops. But I won't be getiing either as soon as they come out.

My favourite bot moment? I can't think of any specific one. So Ill just say the following:
Timesplitters: Future Perfect.
