ive Liked Treyarch since i played World at war, i skipped Modern warfare 2, and have always planned on getting Black ops Because of the Developer
Luh-luh-luh-luh-luh-liked treyarch?!

Suh-suh-suh-suh-skipped Modern Warfare 2?!

OT: Anyhoo, if I weren't so poor, I'd be considering Black Ops, after all one of the greatest offline multiplayer shooters was Timesplitters 3, due to it's bots.

However I am, and only have moneys for my Beloved*

Awesome! Well done Treyarch!

Back in the Counter Strike days me and my mate would put around 30 bots on the terrorist side, and there would just be me and my mate on Counter Terrorist. The T's would have knifes, and we would have a gun of our choice, it wasnt easy!

A lot of Red Faction love around here, as there should be.

I used to love making fortresses out of the stone walls I blew up in Red Faction.

A buddy and I would build two opposing fortresses, then attempt to bomb each other out.

Wonderful time to be a gamer.

I have to say the more I hear about Red Faction the more I want it. Is Guerilla any good?

Best moment hmm? I don't have a specific one, but I adore the Unreal Tournament series for easily having the best multiplayer AI of all time.

Nothing better than opening UT2004, setting my teammates as all Futurama+Family Guy characters (with proper voices!) and tearing shit up against the Transformers. Nothing better.

When I was away from home, it was always fun to play Battlefield 1942 with bots on my laptop. I don't have any FPS games for my 360 which can be enjoyed with bots. This is the only news that might actually convince me to buy Black Ops.

Bots have always been second to actual players in terms of intelligence and ability. The only reason we ever used them was for single player or to make teams when other people weren't available to play. That was before the internet. Now there are always people online who can play a match, making bots obsolete, at least in multiplayer. There are notable exceptions to this, such as the zombies in L4D or the jets and helicopters in modern warfare, but enemies who have all the same abilities as the player might as well be controlled by players.
It's pretty obvious to everyone they aren't as good as human players most of the time (anyone who says ALL of the time has never player Unreal Tournament) but you're missing the point. It's always the internet being brought up as something that renders bots useless, but don't believe this is so for many reasons:

*Humans can be better, but humans also tend to whine, abuse, teamkill, camp, steal vehicles, go lone wolf in a team game, spam chat, go AFK, ragequit, obstruct people, ignore special server rules/limitations etc etc etc. Bots always play properly, without complaint, whenever you want and HOW you want.

*Not everyone has fast internet, and telling them to just get it is pretty narrow minded. Even many that DO have internet prefer bots for the above reason alone.

*5 years down the line most people will move on from a game, and if you really like the game and can't find a group of similar minded people, bots allow you to keep playing for as long as you want. Forever, if you so wish. Personally I look forward to enjoying that luxury with Perfect Dark and Timesplitters.

*Split screen or LAN matches with just a handful of players take on the size of a full server when bots are included. Even if they're lousy bots, theres more action and you're friends take on the role of 'bosses'.

For some modern games like Bad Company 2, bots are a missed opportunity for people to learn how to best use vehicles and weapons in a combat situation. Since there is no offline mode for such games, people are forced to do their experimenting online, causing much frustration to the players around them- especially those that could use the vehicles to much better effect.

Bots allow you to explore an arena at your own pace, checking out the scenery or map layout and shortcuts without getting killed by people out for stat-boosting. In most bot supported games you can even walk around an arena alone, having a look at the architecture you'd otherwise be too busy to notice.

Even if you don't ever use bots, there will always be players that do. There's no excuse to keep them out. Games are full of features some use more than others, and bots are no different.

Anyway, as for another great moment with bots- I had one in Bf 1942 where a guy in an AA gun on an aircraft carrier brought down an incoming bomber, but then had to watch helplessly as the charred wreckage drifted down and blew up a friendly plane as it was taking off, before sliding over and decapitating him.

Danke schön! I was going to have to do this myself.

I have finally found the last reason I needed to get this game.

Treyarch, I you've moved onto my "Awesome" list.

To be honest, it's really a matter of opinion.

Guerilla is fun and goofy, arming you with a large hammer that can destroy buildings.
However, I've also heard that some of the fun is diminished by a slight inability to cause carnage because of citizen's feedback.
(i.e. moral drops). /quick and dirty mini-review

I was mainly speaking of the original Red Faction when I mentioned the love, because that was my personal favorite.
I... wouldn't recommend going back that far though. It really hasn't aged well.

Nightfire bots were pretty awesome, but nowt can compare to Timesplitters 2 and 3 bots. It was like fighting a rogues gallery of every character model in the game, and more!

Red Faction 2, I've spent so much time with that game just playing it with bots over and over again. Looking back, I don't think I've ever stuck with another FPS for as long as that game.

Now Treyarch, remove Second Chance and I will hail you as my new God.
They should replace with something like Medic...cause that's all it's useful for, reviving team mates, it's other action annoys the hell out of us!

They should have made a movie about that instead of doing the prequels :p

Yeah Guerilla was more of just a curiosity. RF2 is where I'll be jumping in, most likely. The trailer for guerilla kinda turned me off it a bit.

By the way does anyone know yet if the bots work in all multiplayer modes? or just their own team-deathmatch type thing?
