I have talked with my friends about how they are always trying to put a big single player story in to call of duty, and other first person shooters of the like, its rather hit and miss, but we were talking about someone would be good to base a story around and his name is "Larry Thorne".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Thorne

This guy rely hates communists, he starts in the finish army fighting the Soviet Union, after the Finnish and the soviets sign a peace treaty he goes and trains with the Germans, gets captured by the brits, escapes from a pow camp took a ship to the united states, joined the army went into the Special Forces and even fought in Vietnam in the macvsog.

Check the wiki page He is a lot cooler then i can make him sound.

He also was played by John wayne in the movie "The Green Berets"

Sorry to give you a history lesson, but i thought it would be any interesting thing to talk about on here.

good thing you apologized, god forbid we LEARN anything on here XD
cool idea, but I think they might choke a bit on letting you fight for the nazi's... I know they did in ww2 cod multiplayer, but it's different when you give them story, motivation, stuff like that.
EDIT: actually I just realized company of heroes has a campaign that does pretty much exactly that: let you play as the nazi's and give them a story and motivation (though how good it is is up for debate)
haha, can you imagine the field day fox would have if a call of duty game let you play as a nazi? "after letting the player torture women in children in a Russian airport in Call of Duty 2: modern wars, it's sequel is now letting you play as a nazi and murder jews"

Yeah that would actually be a pretty cool idea, basing the call of duty series on real people and what they did. It would certain make a nice change to the ridiculous stories that have come out of the series so far

I'd love to play a CoD based on this guy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Churchill

Shooting Nazis with a longbow would be awesome.

Ya, too bad the war ended before he could fight in the Japanese, would be vary entertaining to see him run into an officer with a katana while he has the big claymore sword

Ahem.

Simo Häyhä [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simo_H%C3%A4yh%C3%A4]

Nicknamed "White Death" (Russian: Белая смерть, Belaya Smert; Finnish: valkoinen kuolema; Swedish: den vita döden; German: der weiße Tod) by the Red Army, was a Finnish sniper. Using a modified Mosin-Nagant in the Winter War, he has the highest recorded number (505) of confirmed sniper kills in any major war.

A daily account of the kills at Kollaa was conducted for the Finnish snipers. Besides his sniper kills, Häyhä was also credited with over two hundred kills with a Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun, thus bringing his credited kills to at least 705.[5] Remarkably, all of Häyhä's kills were accomplished in fewer than 100 days with a very limited amount of daylight per day.

Häyhä used a Finnish militia variant, White Guard M/28 "Pystykorva" or "Spitz", of the Russian Mosin-Nagant rifle, because it suited his small frame (5 ft 3 in/1.60 m). He preferred to use iron sights rather than telescopic sights to present a smaller target (the sniper must raise his head higher when using a telescopic sight), to prevent visibility risks (a telescopic sight's glass can fog up easily), and aid concealment (sunlight glare in telescopic sight lenses can reveal a sniper's position). Another tactic used by Häyhä was to compact the snow in front of him so that the shot would not disturb the snow and reveal his position.[citation needed] He also kept snow in his mouth so that when breathing the vapor would not give him away.[citation needed]

The Soviets tried several ploys to get rid of him, including counter-snipers and artillery strikes. On March 6, 1940, Häyhä was shot in the lower left jaw during combat by a Russian soldier. The bullet tumbled upon impact and exited his head. He was picked up by fellow soldiers who said "half his head was missing" but he was not dead. He regained consciousness on March 13, the day peace was declared. Shortly after the war, Häyhä was promoted straight from corporal to second lieutenant by Field Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim. No one else has ever gained rank in such a quick fashion in Finland's military history.

I've an idea for a CoD too.
"Stop making the story so shit."

I'll take my royalties now, Infinity Ward, or whoever runs your little circus.

Why does it have to be a CoD game, why can't it just be a FPS that has no relation to any game that went before? Has Call of Duty so come to dominate the landscape that there's no room for any new realistic shooter IPs?

yeah there's not gonna be a CoD with an ex SS soldier. The reason he hates communists is because he's a Nazi.

Oh please, everyone knows about White Death.
We want longbows impaling nazis, not sitting in a tree for 3 years shooting counter-snipers. Can you imagine what that would be like on Veteran where everyone has built-in homing devices?

Umm, all of the confirmed kills were done in ~100 days:

And somehow I don't get the impression that a flexing a longbow for 3 seconds would be any less difficult on Veteran.

Besides, Saya was smart about sniping. Imagine being able to use the techniques he did in a game.

I think making a CoD equivalent of Arkham Asylum would be much better than a regular CoD game with a longbow as a gimick.

Except that said tactics are also gimmicks in their own sense. What would the game boast? "You can shove snow in your mouth and choose not to use telescopic lenses, and you can hide in trees"
It would probably be a great idea for one single mission, but an entire game?
(Then again this is Call of Duty we're talking about - they'd make an entire alternate history for him)
Lastly...Veteran on any CoD game can be seriously SERIOUSLY annoying as everyone has a built-in homing system for where you are.

EDIT: Let us combine longbows, hiding in trees, sniping, eating snow, dinosaurs and Arkham Asylum...we shall call it, Call of Duty: Turok Asylum.

Or you could play Brothers in Arms which has the benefit of being based on real soldiers, real events, and is a better game as well.

What about a game about Vasily Zaytsev?
Why not do something that's never been done before by any other franchise: base a CoD game on females soldiers in modern wars? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_Soldiers]

I endorse this idea.
