It's only an option in private games and like two playlists. There are first person only playlists and third person playlists you can't have both at the same time.

Third person view isn't too bad, played a mod on the PC version which lets you go to third person. Aiming ahead of you is harder as I didn't have crosshairs, but it sure as hell looks nice.
