The worst kept secret in the gaming industry has finally been made official:

The big star is obviously Captain Price (the scene stealing non-player protagonist from the original three games), but the game itself may appear to attempt to address at least some of the jingoism and questionable depiction of military operations that plagued the original series (and has been dealt with better in later installments).

Either way, I'm a fan, so this is probably going to be a buy for me absent something really seriously wrong with it.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Much better trailer then I expected. If it comes to steam then I'll take a look at it, maybe even when it releases.

There is COD4 Modern warfare
There is COD Modern warfare remastered
Now there is COD modern warfare 2019 again.

Why they lack creative names?? other than i dont see anything new in it.

I would really like to get into CoD again, but at this point I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. When it hasn't been ability/gadget wars instead of a shooter, the series has been plagued by P2W bs and lootboxes. The whole using 'No Russian' for "inspiration" does not inspire confidence in me that the single player won't just be a tacky, edgy mess.

I would like to be wrong on both fronts, I would like nothing more than to be able to enjoy playing CoD again, but the series just hasn't earned that trust back.

Modern warfare is sub series which get 2 sequels plus remastered and now reboot. and this all spawn in decade.

Doom 2016 is reboot after Doom 3 which was release in 2004. large gap. plus Doom sequel is not called Doom 2. its Doom Eternal.

Well, this is bottom of the barrel.

Can't get a new name. It's in a different timeline from the other Modern Warfare games, but dredges up the same characters. Also by the looks of things, it's treating the setting like it's still 2007, back when the US had the will and power to project over various countries (for good or ill), and where the UK's biggest threat wasn't from being torn apart itself. And "grabbed from the headlines" missions. Because, y'know, that worked so well with Warfighter. Also, call me naieve if you must, but when I think of the biggest threats facing the world today, terrorism no longer comes to mind.

And yet it'll make a billion because it's called "Modern Warfare," and the familiar sells. :(

Y'know, Blizzard better hurry up and release those new secret games they're always on about, otherwise Activision's going to have more games on the launcher than they are.

Whenever COD is involved, I always thinks of this:

Though the same could be said for AssCreed and Far Cry as well.

Yeah, but technically doesn't it work?

Whatever changes those franchises may or make not make, it's apparently working from a monetary perspective.

They change some things, but not much.

"Oh look, the last two AC games and FC: New Dawn have RPG mechanics that does not add much overall, other than more padding and grinding."

"We're back with our shallow attempt by going back to WWII. No, now we're doing Battle Royale, and single-player is dead. Except it's not dead, and here's a remake of a game that acts like it is 2007 all over again. Even though we re-released the original for steeper price and took what was free or cheap dlc on last gen and charged it on current gen console. Only to end back on the same name for a franchise that did not need rebooting and is pulling a Need for Speed."

Whatever "changes" they make are so minuscule and makes each entry all the more shallow. Especially since the unholy trio want to treat most of their properties as "live services". This is why I don't buy from either of these studios anymore. I tend to feel sorry for people who play only those games and nothing else, because they miss out on the best parts of gaming, and ever memories they have is just either going to be multiplayer session and nothing about story or characters. I remember my own share of online session, but I am not going to let it be my only gaming memory.

You have point, this is just me ranting.

Honestly kind of excited for this one.

Haven't really cared about Call of Duty since they scrapped the "totally not titanfall" movement system that I really enjoyed in Black Ops 3. I hate battle royal games, and the WW2 game just didn't catch my eye at all.

From what I've heard about this game though it looks pretty great. Everyone is talking up the attempts at realism, realistic night vision, realistic camera footage, etc, as well as the new lighting and graphics engines, as well as realistically scaled levels, and I'm curious to see whether it improves how the game plays.

Just a bunch of little details that sound neat.

The moment I saw the super stealthy squad sneaking through the jungle at night with a flaring cigar in that dude's mouth, I laughed. I mean properly laughed. COD really is the videogame equivalent of an 8 year old playing around with his little action figures.

So are they doing the same thing over and over, or are they changing everything over and over again to see what sticks?

You really should make your mind up about this.
