Just saw this on IGN. http://pc.ign.com/articles/935/935500p1.html

Thoughts? Hopes? Dreams?

They didn't say much, but hopefully this will be made by Infinity Ward. But note, there is no specification.

If they are sticking to modern war then I want Treyarch to do a Vietnam one the year after.

NO! They'd screw it up. How about IW take over the entire franchise?
This! Treyarch, get your own franchise and leave this one to the ones who do it right: Infinity Ward.

I've no doubt that Treyarch could make a good game, but it won't have 'Call of Duty' in the title.

I seem to be the only person who disliked CoD4. I get annoyed with the heavy spam associated with most "modern" war type games (battlefeild 2, cod4 etc).
Guess I must just be part of the minority for liking how ww2 weapons play.

too long for each game to come out, if they were the only devs on the franchise, there might be hints of a rushed effort on some of their games, while having another dev means twice the development time and CoD 4 calibre games.

I'm sure many people (myself included) thought they might delve into some kind of futuristic warfare or jungle warfare, but i guess the market is saturated with such games, although a IW effort would have been most welcome.

FFS Treyarch! heed my words! I want to see some WW1, Nam or some goddamned battle of waterloo up in this *****! If they are going forward then you better be going back!

hopefully there will be co op on the others, but i am fine with no co op if they do set pieces like they did before. OR a seperate co op campaign?!

I always feel alone in not thinking COD3 was crap. Enjoyed the multiplayer more than Modern Warfare at least. Wonder whether this will be a "sequel" in the sense of continuing the scenario of COD4 or a "sequel" in just being set in same time period as though the events of the last game didnt happen.

For the people who aren't sure: Yes, this IS by Infinity Ward. Infinity Ward and Treyarch trade off each year, so it is Infinity Ward's turn. Besides which, Activision confirmed that IW is making "Call of Duty 6 (Working title; seems to be named "Modern Warfare 2" now)" a while back.

Anyone hoping that it isn't a direct sequel or anything? And that we have some different enemies? I don't really want to fight Russians and Arabs again; they are in every other modern warfare game already too...Gives us a new, fictional modern war in a new place. Hell, let us take a whack at the Chinese or something...

...

Actually, that would make Modern Warfare 2 the second modern shooter in 2009 to have us fight the Chinese. Operation Flashpoint 2 is the US vs China.

Also...Is anyone else irked that we don't see enough countries as the "good guys" that aren't the US or UK? Who wants Modern Warfare 2 to be REALLY edgy, risky, and controversial and not include the US or UK? Why can't we play as, say, Israel or Germany or something? Am I the only one who is getting bored with the same two or three "good guy" countries saving the day?
