Well I looked through the Search (I'm not that good at it) and came up with nothing so here goes:

How come Cod 5 wasn't a big successor. Was it because of the previous 3 games were WWII as well? I mean, I loved the whole zombies thing, that was fun. Was it because it didn't have all the fancy pancy new aged guns or are most FPS's just into the modern thing. How come it dropped off the radar not long after it came out?

Yeah, I actually did return to it as well.
It wasn't nearly as good as MW2 for me, I mean the campaign was fairly forgettable and the multiplayer, while alright, was nothing special.
The Nazi Zombies was pretty good too.
So, it's definitely not a failure.

Nazi Zombies was a novelty, as I reiterate time and time again. I loved it at first, then it got dull, and fast.

The story mode was half terrible - the Russian campaign saved it. And for some reason Jack Bauer didn't sound too well voice-acted.

However, and this is saying a lot, it is the only game in which I have participated in the multiplayer for a long time (I even reached level 65 - didn't prestige though because I'd lose all the veneers of cool I have left), and I hate multiplayer with the passion of the Christ.

I like the WWII-era guns - there's a larger variety, since nowadays all the guns do is fire at different rates of speed, whilst you had single-shots (that weren't snipers or pistols) back in those days to balance with the sprayers.

My favourite gun was a scoped M1 Garand - got me into sniping.

I absolutely adore it.

Treyarch gave CoD campaign coop, which its been begging for! IW then took it away to tell their shitty story in a more dramatic fashion.

Therefore,

Treyarch>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Infinity Ward

Treyarch loves their fanbase. They gave them 3 map packs, each with 3 multiplayer maps and 1 Nazi Zombies map, and then a discounted bundle.

I <3 Treyarch. Except for "Spiderman 3: The Movie: The Game: The Video Game".

WaW is actually my all-time favorite FPS.

That said...I have moved on to MW2, if only to keep up with my friends, because they won't play WaW.

Oh yes! WaW was already 1 year in dev when CoD4 was released to massive sales and success...So...you can either have a 2 year WW2 game, or a 1 year MW game.

I'd take the 2 year WW2.

I guess because it wasn't developed by Infinity Ward.

Still, saying it dropped of the radar is a little much, right? I mean, I played it for a long while.

Did it drop off the radar? I'm still playing it. It's probably my favourite COD game so far. Much better than MW2. It improves on MW1 as well.

The story mode is gritty and authentic and the multiplayer is probably the best balanced of the lot.

So I don't think it was a failure at all.
Thats good to hear. Right now me and my brother are playing it LAN. Major fun since they just got better computers and don't have to restart every 5 mins =D

It's all a bit quiet regarding that game now but that's no surprise as Modern Warfare 2 came out nearly 5 months ago now and people are playing it to death.

I enjoyed the World at War multplayer, probably more than MW2's in some aspects. I like the old weapons and think it'd be a nice thing to see some of them in MW2 as an update.

I think it went quiet quickly as it was yet another WW2 shooter, and the genre is inundated with those now boring games. The campaigns of COD games have gotten worse with each new game I think, barring COD 4, it's hard to keep a war that has been done to death in the media world fresh.

Yeah Treyarch kick ass. IW are douchebags as they focused on the game and not the players. I love games with A) Good support and B) Great modding community.

I found Spec Ops superior to the Co-op campaign. It disposed of all the scenes that I had to sit through every time in WaW.

Umm, isn't that what the devs are supposed to focus on.
You know, the fucking game?

Two reasons why it's awesome: Jack Bauer.

Other then the single player, I was just completely over WWII.

I'm thinking about getting it, I'm getting a bit bored with CoD4. Is it a good improvement on CoD4?

I think I experience COD differently to most because I rarely play anything online anymore. (Except for Quake Live). At the minute I don't even have a Gold subscription.

But living in a house with four other blokes means a lot of split-screen and between us we have WAW, MW and MW2, all of which still get played split-screen for various different reasons.

WAW tends to be when our WW2 obsessed housemate gets his way, but I do enjoy sniping on Makin. Plant bouncing betty's at the botton of the guard tower and camp up there... WAW games are so far apoart everyone forgets my tactics and fall for it.

The single player wasn't really worth revisiting, but Nazi Zombies and some VS are always worth a few lulz.

I never bought it myself, but from what I played at some friend's houses I thought it was certainly an improvement over COD4, at least campaign-wise.
Nazi Zombies was awesome though.

The common is "Why go back to WWII when we have modern warfare" but I shun that, I like to have a WWII game for current console. IMO they could have just released a disk with only Nazi Zombies and I would be happy.

And speaking of Zombies, I would love to see a patch that adds more NZ achievements and trophies.

It was because it was only Call of Duty in name, and engine. It was made by different people. It's like Guinness outside of Ireland. Just not the same.

Aww, come on, Onyx. You just discovered I am a IW fanboy?
Still, I really don's see coop in WaW being better than Spec Ops.
