Some PC fans have been waiting for to get their hands on the sequel to Crysis, 2007's masterful shooter. Just now the multiplayer demo has been released, so you can finally get a taste of what CryEngine 3 has to offer on state of the art hardware.

Nearly downloaded but its 2.30am for me so no time to play

Hopefully on the PC you can read the words on the damn screen.

I remember playing the 360 demo my new HD tv, and I had to squint to read pretty much everything. I do not envy people with SD tv's.

I also hope matches will be found faster then 15 god damn minutes this time.

EDIT: Also, in response to the news story: "Its a little slow, so you may have to wait an hour before joining in".

Lucky bastards, at the moment my download manager says it'll take 9 hours to download.

Oh thank you for reminding me of this, I've been desperately waiting for this damn demo to come out. This will tide me over until the damn Dissidia 2 demo decides to show itself. Downloading now, can't wait to try it.

I am confident I'll enjoy it though as I loved the first one and so far this game is looking good. Any complaints I've heard about them "dumbing it down" or "consolizing" it sound rather superficial, so it'll be nice to see things in action and get a good judgment for myself.

I don't know what the hell people are talking about with slow download speeds, I'm getting over 1mb/s

edit: I heard that the 360 will get the second demo period tomorrow, for those wondering.

I want this game for SP though :( You reckon they'll release an SP demo?
Real doubtful. I don't see a company releasing two separate demos, although it would be nice if the demo included MP and SP. The first games demo was SP but it really didn't offer much, more or less just give you a look into how everything worked and doubled as a good benchmark for your system.

Hmmm... I wonder if I get this for my PC if it will be as useless as my 360 demo, which would lock up my 360 the moment I would start loading a match. I would love to try it but I'm rather jaded about it after that experience

Anyone able to successfully log in? The servers seem COMPLETELY overloaded, can't create/access an account, can't login, etc. It's pissing me off because i want to play sooooo bad.

I just finished a good 2 hour session with the MP and have had absolutely ZERO issues with it. No terrible lag, no crashes, nothing. The PC demo works perfectly fine from my experience, I have a few issues with the game, but it's mostly gameplay wise; on a technical level it's all good.

The only thing that bothers me and has me a bit worried for the full game is that the graphics options are REALLY limited. All you got for visual quality setting is low, medium, high ect... you can't tweak each and every individual parameter and so help me god if you can't in the full game.

Crysis 2 still uses Crysis' method of detail setting.
Basically, each and every individual little bit of quality can be controlled by a console command.
So, if there isn't an advanced graphical menu in the full release its laziness rather than impossible engine design.
Also, we'll pretty much definitely see lots of custom configs floating around on the internet.

Oh I'm aware of that, but it bothers me that there are no advanced graphical settings in the demo. I really don't like pulling up console and junk to set the game I want it too, just feels like an annoying hassle. But I'm confident that the full game will have advanced settings, hell even with the basic ones in the demo, the game still looks great. I've noticed a few things that seem a little downgraded but only time will tell.

My biggest irks are the nerfing of Speed mode, and no on the fly weapon customization like the first game. It's definitely more "Call of Duty'esq" but I feel it still retains much of the spirit of the first game.

Thats good, but when I got the 360 demo it was useless for me, kept locking my system up and as far as I know it didn't happen to a whole lot of people. But I guess I may as well try it anyways. Albeit I don't really plan on playing a whole lot of multiplayer (too many other games ):)
