Calling all Escapist Team Fortress players!
I'm looking to put together a squad to enter into this season of the <url=http://www.ugcleague.com/home_tf2h.cfm>EU UGC Highlander tournament.
What does this entail?
Highlander is a Team Fortress 2 gametype where two teams of 9 square off against each other, with only one of each class is allowed on each team - every class has to pull their weight! There are a few small rules with referral to banned weapons and so-forth, which can be found <url=http://www.ugcleague.com/info_tf2h.cfm>here.
UGC Matches are played between 7-9pm on Monday nights, and you'll probably want a decent ping to EU servers to play in the EU league.
(If you're in the US and your ping sucks, you're more than welcome to try and get together a second team for the US leagues?)
So what do I need to do?
First off, add me on Steam. There's a link on my profile, but for the lazy: http://steamcommunity.com/id/bobmus
Comment on this thread as well, or in the TF2 group and let me know what your class preference is.
Second, come join me (and hopefully a lot of other people) on the UK Escapist server at 8pm GMT on the 7th of January (this coming Monday). Play your preferred class, and we'll treat it as some fun mixed with a kind of informal tryout.
If you want a reminder about that time (which I imagine will be very handy), please join the <url=http://steamcommunity.com/groups/escapistgamenights>Escapist Game Nights Steam group, and I'll ask DaZz to make an event for it.
Then what?
Once I've got an idea for who can play what class well, I'll contact you and send you an invite to a Steam group I can use for a little more scheduling. Ideally I'd like around a 20-man squad so we have plenty of substitutes for nights when people might be busy.
In a perfect world we'd play a few practice games together before the season begins, and I'll do my very best to try and get something organised once we've got a squad together. First match is the 21st of January, and I've already put a team registration in so we don't miss out on being matched.
NB: I asked DaZz. to put an announcement out in the TF2 group a few days ago about this, and I've got a healthy response, but I thought I'd put in a message in the forums about this as well to increase the numbers.
EDIT: This never took off.
