I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

USA is less than 2 hours from me, I go there all the time, love it.

Now the country has 2 views.

Firstly the people who like the US just because it's just another country.

Now the other people hate on the US, mostly Bush actually, for the Middle Eastern conflicts, blah blah blah, I don't know what else, just bull mostly.

I like the American people - most of them have a can-do attitude which is refreshing to see, even if its Sarah Palin's and she's doing it wrong - but I think your country is effed up. You have the most expensive healthcare system in the world which means the average individual lives in fear of getting sick in case they can't afford the treatment. I mean - just - what? Yeah, so in the UK we pay slightly higher taxes, but that means if I get hit by a bus tomorrow all of my treatment is free (including the goddamn ambulance ride!) and any prescribed medicine I have to take from thereon out costs a flat rate of £7.20. I have a friend in the US who has to pay $200 a month just for her anti-depressants, and if she can't afford it then she'll go without. It's weird how you live in a shitty system like that, yet are completely resistant to changing it - whenever there's a feature about it on the news the attitude seems to be (forgive me if its not your personal attitude) OMG WE'RE NOT PAYING FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S HEALTHCARE I MEAN LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AND GOD BLESS AMERICA BUT MY MONEY IS MIEN!!1111 Yet you're perfectly happy to keep funding a pointless war and defend your rights to own a gun until your blue in the face.

I'm not trying to be offensive, I just find it...weird. Really, really weird. I don't even want to visit America, I'd rather stick with a country that wouldn't then shaft me if I got sick. (The father of a friend of mine got appendicitis whilst in Florida and ended up paying $5,000...for the ambulance ride. Which was two blocks. And he didn't have a choice about whether they called him an ambulance or not. Um. Just. Buh?)
Yeah, our heath care system is just dicked up in so many ways, and we have something that almost resembles a plan, but there's so much money that gets "contributed to a campaign"(read bribe money) that it's going to take some major work to get any of this shit fixed.

Please believe me when I wish you the sincerest luck in getting your system fixed. It's sickening to see people dying of common illnesses and injuries because they can't afford treatment in what is still proclaimed to be the "richest country in the world" (*cough*China*/cough*)

I am British. Here America is viewed something along these lines: Insular, with very little interest in or knowledge of anything outside it's borders. Over indulgent, over-weight and over polluting with cars several times larger than they need to be. The general view is that they are the school bully of the global community.

On the other hand, Jack Daniels, Inception, Avatar, Star Wars, Valve and many other things I like have come from there so it can't be all bad.

Country: Sweden

In short: Swedes generally like your culture and your people but dislike your politics. It's quite common among young people to dream about working or studying in the states, at least for a little while.

I wish it was just that simple. My dad can't join his State's high risk pool costing 800USD/month for coverage because he qualifies for another policy, through my mom's employer, even though it's 1300USD/month. That's just for emergencies. Once you get into actual plans should some non-emergency arise, then it gets more expensive.

I guess it's time for the antimatter netting then, or the miniature black hole, or maybe just a really big mirror.

FFS! Europe is not a country!

Also;
UK:I like a lot of things about America but then I dislike a lot too (such as health care policies, guns, ruining the English language, the tendency to elect a fucking moron as your leader...the list goes on).
I wouldn't ever move there or visit, but that's mostly due to me as I don't like going out all that much.

Also, also;
Obama FTW!

From Australia and I have nothing really against your country I just think your poorly represented by those in powers and ridiculous shows like Jersey Shore.

There are those vocal people spend a lot of time criticizing the US but I wouldn't imagine any national disdain towards America.

I'm pretty sure that everyone hates American politics, even Americans.

If they want to come study, I've got no problem with it. If they actually like it enough, I'm sure we can find room somewhere.

Do not fret, for we will find a way past your silly American shenanigans. Because as everyone knows, there is one thing we Martians do best...<youtube=tLPZmPaHme0>

They seem pretty anxious to test out new weapons and technology ( they have the best I'll give them that ) and sometimes it seems like they're purposely looking for "trouble".
That's all I wanted to get off my chest right now. I have nothing against USA ( I hope you meant USA , not America , but it's ok you'll learn some day about the difference ).
And I don't agree with the fact that americans are all retarded ( like some said earlier ) . Sure, you see alot of stupid shit there, but stupid people are absolutely everywhere you look. Maybe americans are more exposed by the exagerated media, than others.

Europe is a continent. The European Union is a collective of (relatively)like minded countries that are using collective bargaining as a method to increase geopolitical power by unifying under a central cause in an attempt to become more relevant on a global level. I'm not sure what JoJo meant by Europe as a country, so I can't answer that part.

If you don't like going out, then you really don't need to experience our messed up pricing system(everything is priced before sales & use tax which confuses everyone). There is no small number of policies I wish we could completely throw out(current health care, the PATRIOT act, the entire DEA). We do attempt some rather queer things with the English language, I will give you that. I don't know what is wrong with our political system that isn't everything.

I really don't get why you don't actually like guns, but that is something that is oddly American.

I can't explain how Jersey Shore is popular as I've never bothered to watch it. Our political system has some problems that need to be fixed, badly.

We're Americans, I know we're not perfect. We've got some major issues that need to be fixed, before they drag us down in a way that resembles tar.

For being so full of kind and sociable people, not to mention the intellectual elite of the world, ignorance and stupidity permeates much of American society. I can't actively like or respect a nation which allows the hypocrisy and ignorance of the Christian right as much power as it has, and I'm just too sick of it to even care anymore. China, here I come!
Bye. Don't let the Government controlled internet connections get you down too much.
Business ventures only, of course. China has yet to shed all of its communist bullshit, and I don't think that the attitude of its citizens is only progressive. Makes it all the more worrisome that they are dethroning the States as we speak.

...It's ok. It's just another country with the only remarkable thing about it being it's ideas on gun control, if you can call it that.

I'm British, and I think America is OK. Sure you've messed up a couple of times, and have done some morally suspect things, but it's not like you've done anything worse than us or any other nation.

Hell, on the whole I'd say America's contribution to human freedom and dignity has been pretty good. Plus, while I don't think your healthcare system is perfect, I don't think ours is either. I'd prefer something somewhere in between our two systems, probably leaning toward yours.

In Israel, Americans are basicly a higher life form, while no one really admits it (cause for some reason people think Obama is anti-Israeli), but any average Israel that isn't very relegious would give anything to become American.
