It takes practice, just following a guide isn't going to get you results instantly. Drawing isn't assembling a desk there's more to it. Keep playing with it, keep a loose grip on your pencil and just make lighter looser shapes and then detail it up and eventually something will come out of it.
It should be like assembling a desk.

I can draw an anime/manga style but its pretty limited and I suck at hands and feet (getting better at the hands though) and I suck horribly at shading. I don't have any art on hand or any way to upload it or I would post something on here.

I just had to draw a scene from Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus for a class and drew Lavinia after she gets raped by Chiron and Demetrius. It looked pretty good except for the feet, but the hands were nothing to worry about obviously (people that know the play will get that comment).

I have very limited abilities when it comes to drawing. I work it all out in my head and I always figure that my hands will be able to do it, but as soon as I put pencil to paper, it just comes out looking all wrong.

But then everyone's drawings would look the same...don't follow step-by-step guides; don't trace; just really try and focus on what you want it to look like and don't be afraid to draw the same thing a few dozen times.

I can't even rip off XKCD---my stick figure skills are lacking.

When I was in fourth grade I had to take an art class---and the art teacher sent a letter home to my mother suggesting that she have me evaluated for mental retardation because when he looked at my art he thought I had the cognitive ability of an infant. (my mom flipped her shit and got the guy fired.)

I have no grasp of depth in drawing. Of course thats not my only problem, but its probably my biggest, most easilly defined one outside of not knowing what i'm doing.

I can't even draw a damn circle.

I drew a cat once, someone asked me if it was a tree.
Ya those cat trees are convincing :D I can't draw a circle either. I always have some line that makes it look like the circle has a tumor :(

Hey I'm exactly the same. I can't tell you how clear things look inside my mind but I would need like some sort of divine powers or robot devil hands to ever make it real by my skill alone. I just write the stuff hoping to one day wrangle in an artist willing to do time with my work.

D: That'd hardly be fun, there'd be a lot of "that's what she said jokes".

I remember that as a kid i was not able to successfully draw a triangle. Good times.

Nowadays my triangle drawing skills are much improved, i still cant draw for shit though. In fact my year 11 chemistry teacher told me i was the second worst drawer he had ever seen because of how bad my diagrams where. Thats pretty bad, thats like having a doctor tell you your handwriting is bad.

I used to draw pretty well when I was younger, I took art lessons and everything. Definitely above average. But my brother was much more artistically gifted than I was, so I gave up that hobby because he would always be better than me.

I remember when I was about 11 I made a really awesome drawing of a dude skiing towards the viewer. Sketch was lost at some point. Foreshortening is a *****.

In relation to pencil and paper... I'm about one step up from stick figures... I don't know... In photoshop I can make grand things, but my physical drawing skill is more than lacking. But, my handwriting is terrible too, so it might just be my hands...

I can only draw specific things, like band logos and the like. When it comes to creativity, I simply can't draw anything well. I can do lost of other creative things in other media. I was one of the best students in my tech drawing and computer-aided drafting classes in high school. But pencil/paper drawings freehand? God no.
