Hey, everybody, Battleaxx here. So anyway, I've been looking for this album...

That's right, good ol' 2112. The only problem is... I can't find it anywhere!

I've called all you Rush fans together for a reason; I need to ask a question: Is this album still sold in stores? If it is, where can I find it, and for how much?

(Yes, I am aware of the fact that I could just buy it offa Itunes or something, but I'd prefer to have it on CD to justify keeping my CD player that I bought literally weeks before the Ipod was put on shelves...)

Yeah. So anyways, leave your answers in the comments below. Also, if you know of any other kickass Rush albums, feel free to name them for me. Kthxbai.

I bought my copy at a store called Hastings. That's the only place in my town where you'd be able to find music that hasn't been released in the last few years. If they don't have what I'm looking for, I use Amazon.

As for other good Rush albums, I recommend Hold Your Fire, Test for Echo, and Roll the Bones. I think all of Rush's albums are amazing, but those three are my favorites (other that 2112 and Moving Pictures).

2112 (other than Moving Pictures) is usually one of the easier albums to find, in my experience anyways. Keep up the search, or Amazon it like a few ppl have suggested.

If you want recommendations, it depends what kind of RUSH ur looking for:

If you want classic prog Rush, go for 2112 or A Farewell to Kings.

Power Windows and Roll the Bones are my 2 favourite "in between" albums, where they managed to balance the synth-driven stuff and heavier rock n roll.

If you want straight up hard rock, Counterparts or Vapor Trails will usually do the job for me.

Also, look out for their new album comin in 2012, its gonna be a lot heavier than their regular stuff, and I'm terribly excited for it.

Hope you can find it dude. I haven't the slightest idea.

But I gotta say Moving Pictures was by far their greatest.

Spirit of the Radio
Limelight
and Tom Sawyer will always be my top 3 Rush Jams

I'm a big fan of Permanent Waves as well, as it has my all-time favorite song, The Spirit of Radio. Although there isn't a single Rush song that I dislike, so I could choose favorites ALL day long.

When you say that their new album will be harder, will that mean similar to Snakes & Arrows? I'll still get it regardless, but I've only heard one single from the album (Caravan) and only a few times. But I really liked it. Do you know when the album is due out next year?

For an actual store, try a local Best Buy. I got a remastered copy of the album from there and they usually have quite a few good albums in stock. If you want the guaranteed approach, check out the Amazon link a few posts above. That should insure you get a copy of the album rather than driving out to a store only to find it out of stock. Either way, you should probably be able to find a copy in no time with these options.

I agree with what you say mostly (Limelight takes top spot for me, Spirit's a close second, but I don't like the song Rivendell at all).

There's another single that was released with Caravan called BU2B (or "Brought up to Believe"). Judging by those 2 songs and the shift they seem to have been going through, I'd say it's gonna be heavier than Snakes and Arrows. I also think that it's gonna have a "bigger" sound to it that will really suit the huge shows they've been putting on since their resurgence into popularity.

It was actually due to be out in MAY THIS YEAR, but they extended their tour and signed up with Roadrunner Records to release it, so not til 2012, but I suspect it will be pretty early on.

While Rivendell isn't one of my favorites, I listen to it occasionally because it is so calm. Very nice when I want to relax. And Limelight is definitely up there for me to. It has one of my favorite lyrics of all time: "All the world's a stage/ And we are merely players, performers and portrayers/ each another's audience outside the gilded gate." Really makes me think about the impact and role we play in each other's lives.

And after listening to BU2B, I'm really excited for this new album. And I would definitely say that based on those 2 songs they have taken the Snakes & Arrows sound to a higher level, becoming a little heavier and what I think I would call more "showy" than earlier works. Not in a bad way, but like you said, it sounds like it will lend itself to a a large show venue very easily.
