I just don't really pay it any attention at all. Im way too busy with uni. So much so that I don't pay a whole lot of attention to what's going on around me. :p

This will be the first valentines day in 5 years that I will be single... unfortunately of the 4 I was with my ex, I was away for 3 of them! :p

Valentines day is just a commercial holiday. As much as I am one of the soppy romantic types, I know that romance is meant to be spontaneous... What is spontaneous about habing a day of enforced romance on the same day every year?

Personally I am in the military, deployed at the moment. Nobody here is with there loved ones (well, bar one couple I found, who were just lucky), so we will just be working, and having a normal day.

i think valentines day is the most retarded "holiday" ever made...that said, im in a rship and my girlfriend does infact like the holiday so instead of ruining it for her by being moody, i bought her a present and a card and am letting her pick a movie to watch. That being said ive been single for every other valentines day (had other relationships but they always ended/started before/after valentines day) and i survived by..well...not caring about it!

Well it falls on a Tuesday. I don't have to be in uni till Thursday and I don't have a job. So I guess I'll sleep till noon, make a fat bacon and egg toastie, play Gears 3 with my flatmate and when we get bored I'll fire up Minecraft. I'll do that till about 11pm then read away the last hour of the night.

Having been single on V-day for ooooh, 8 years now, I've developed a nack for not giving a monkey's.

Ignoring it. Ignoring it completely.

Still, if it turns out someone wants to do something that day, at least my schedule is open. ;D

So when did the Escapist turn into that annoying friend who just assumes you cannot possibily be happy single? I'm going to get through Valentine's Day by ignoring it. I have no reason to celebrate it so I have no reason to pay it any attention. It's no different to how I don't celebrate Hanukkah since I'm not Jewish.

You suave ninja bastard! Of all the times I've used that clip, this is the first time it has been completely relevant to the topic.

Great, now I have to think.

what are you doing
Your mother. *snort*

OT: Wake up, leave the house, get jelly for a few seconds, eat something, come home tired, go on internet, ignore my work, and think about everything I've ever done wrong. Like any other day, really.

Not going to do anything. First of all I don't care about dating, haven't found a girl I like yet. Second of all even if I did Valentines Day is a commercial rip-off that makes you feel bad about not giving that special someone a good day even though any other given day of the year should be fine.

Am I alone in thinking V-Day is a cynical marketing ploy?

I don't consider myself unromantic either, I'll do something on the day when I'm in a relationship, but personally, I prefer to do something special when I feel like it or when I feel she needs a boost, not when Hallmark's and Thornton's share prices need a pickup.

Do something, sure, but isn't it better to surprise your partner, instead of just doing the expected?

As it is, I'll do my best to ignore it, which is fairly easy, done my shopping, and I don't watch much TV or read the papers.

Usually I'll send my ex-girlfriend (we're still unbelievably close) a card, and maybe a McDonald's gift card if I can afford it. She was never the kind of person you could buy gifts for cause never seemed to want anything.

Other than that, I'll probably do what I usually do. Play video games, watch movies, read books.. whatever I feel like doing. If my ex is online, and she usually is, we'll hang out for a few hours. We particularly enjoy playing Minecraft together on our friend's server.

Hmm.. maybe we can all hang out there on the 14th, that'd be kinda fun. I'd have to run it by everyone, though. Our "get together" days with the others are kind of rare, so it'd be cool to have a day where we just spend time chilling, talking, and building crap or exploring.

To me, Valentine's day this year isn't when couples are extra attracted to each other for twenty-four hours, although that is certainly on my radar.

No, to me, it's the day the Mass Effect 3 demo comes out. Can't wait! :)

The same thing I do every night: Try to take over the world. That or reading or watching something or whatever.
