Snipers don't have to camp. Sometimes it's even better if they don't. Snipers, especially on big maps, can take a shot from anywhere then move to another spot and get another kill without risking a guy going up to them after they've been killed (killcam in CoD's). It gives you more angles as well. Oh and occasionally you can get a "free" kill when someone goes up to your previous location and you can give them a little surprise. I personally "camp" (I move a around in a spot but generally stay in a certain area) only while sniping or on defense.

Its stupid to camp. If you do then the person you killed will just come back and get revenge.

Snipers dont have to camp. I said this to some friends who play CoD4 on the 360 and they were shocked. They'd never even heard of running with snipers and quick-scoping. That style of play is a lot more fun that sitting in a corner with claymores 10 metres either side of you. Stops the whiners too.
I agree with you. As a sniper you shouldn't spend more than a few minutes in one area. Keep moving and theres a higher chance that you won't get killed.

They do slow down the pace of games, but they're not that hard to deal with.

It's very satisfying to creep up behind a guy with silenced sniper rifle and run right in front of his face before knifing him.

This is why I spend most of my time on Live with L4D2, sniping rarely happens. I hate it when it happens in MW2 and most of my teammates too.

I don´t understand why people whine about it.If you stay in one spot the entire round, shouldn't it be easier to kill since the enemy always knows where you are and they could always just sneak up on you?
Not if they're in a corner. I find this far too much in MW2, people find corners where they don't particularly stand out and are fairly high traffic areas and quickly kill off anyone not expecting them and they don't show up on radars(in Halo) so they can see you coming before you see them at all.

I never camp, sometimes I'll stay in a small area and then move onto the next area, and sometimes I'll aim for a certain vantage point when I snipe. Campers piss me off alot.

Nothing wrong with ambushes, but if you're camping in the same spot that doesn't have any counters (broken map design) then you're being a dick.

I play Call of Juarez a lot and use a the sniper most of the time. I camp like crazy.

But in that game when you die, it shows you the location of the guy that killed you, so after killing a couple of times, i have to move to a new location since i am going to have guys coming after me very soon if i outstay my welcome.

On the mission based games, i don't really mind this, because if i can be a big enough pain that i have guys coming after me personally, that means that those guys are not helping with the mission objectives for their team.

But no one has ever complained to me about it or sent me hate mail.

Not everyone knows how to camp, and it gets really funny when newbies try to camp. So i don't mind campers , as long as they are noobs :D.

Tough i do have to confess that most of the time i played Battlefield 2 i used a sniper, and sucked...really, really bad.

If they're abusing a glitch, it's pretty cheap. But otherwise, they're just doing what works. There are no rules in war. In real life, snipers are almost obligated to "camping", cause that's what their job is, get the enemy from far distances without being discovered. And the best technique for that is to hide in a position that works. And most of the time, camping is due to bad level design. It's like people who complain about the running and stabbing technique in MW2 (a technique that I use frequently, and enjoying it), why not do it? It works.
Actually... there are rules in war... I know it makes no sense. =\
Like how they removed certain types of bullets from being used in war and what not... saying it's inhumane to use a bullet that can break apart upon impact causing it to do more damage or something... again I know it makes no sense what so ever.

the only campers that give me the shits are
Spawn Campers eg. Demoman at your spawn.. or a pyro+medic at your spawn
and the people with Thermal semi-auto snipers on MW2.. No skill AT ALL!

Those aren't rules, it's simple mercy. But as far as tactical placement and such goes, the enemy doesn't care whether you think it's fair or not.

i don't have a big problem with regular camping, its the spawn camping i can't stand. it requires no skills or strategy and only pisses me off

There's nothing wrong with camping in my eyes. I have no idea about you but I can easily defuse a camper because he is only one person and there are usually more ways in to where he is. Also, I am not a fan of running while sniping and quick-scoping because its not really fun. It defeats the purpose, in my honest opinion. I mean, I will move, from spot to spot, but only after I get a kill and I know they are coming back with vengeance on their mind. But all of this is with Modern Warfare 2 in mind (Flash bangs people! Use them!) and a little of Team Fortress 2 (my spy tactic usually gets rid of snipers on 2Fort)

I do that and people ***** at me for camping, hence the irritation

Or just have your enttire team chuck grenades at his locale, I wouldn't care if I was the one who died, lying in one spot then suddenly seeing 6-12 grendaes fly at me would be funny as 'ell.
