how do you feel about camping, and what are your views on it. Personally I don't mind camping all that much. Except for spawn camping, I hate spawn camping with a burning passion.

Yeah, spawn camping sucks hard. Normal camping....I don't know, it can be useful, and really satifying when you find a camper unaware. I, personally, only camp when the other team is beast. Like, really beast. Like, spawn-killed-by-three-different-guys-three-times-in-a-row-beast.

No one ever wants to go, and why would you. Its cold and in the dirt and.... oh.

You do what you have to do. Iv done it without realizing it. Sometimes its a good laugh to spawn and then get blown into the air by a claymore or drop liek a sack of potatoes after a second of life.

Maybe thats because I don't give a rats ass about score. As long as we all had fun

Meh, camping sucks, tents never keep all the crap out, trailers are just uncomfortabley small.
I personally don't care for it.

Oh.camping in games, meh whatever, it's a play style like any other, and skill seperates those who are truly great at it from those who aren't, like any other play style.

Yeah when it is strategic I don't mind but in FFA Deathmatch games it is just obnoxious. However in games like Day of Defeat or anything with capture the flag etc I have no issues. defence is usually part of a winning strategy.

In some cases it's okay, but for the most part it's a good way to lose. If you're not moving, you allow the other person the opportunity to control the fight. You may catch a few lazy players, but it's not a tactic that's going to win the game. People can use grenades, find another path towards you, or just ignore you. Your team is then down one player as you sit in a corner somewhere trying to get cheap kills.

I don't mind it. I sometimes camp to lock down an area when I sense an enemy ambush coming on.
And it's pretty easy to kill a camper with a grenade or diversionary tactics while someone flanks. Just like any other play style. Got its advantages and disadvantages.

I'm fine with camping. In fact i almost actively encourage it over running into the enemy wang first and getting your nuts blown off.

The only time i have a big problem with camping is if some moron is off camping where no one is ever going to go. ...Just hanging out by say...the very last objective in a long string of them. That's just ridiculous and you're just as useless as Crotchless Bobby I mentioned earlier.

Staying in a perfectly defendable position with a reliable weapon isn't a problem. Hiding in a darkened, easy overlooked corner hoping some poor schmuck happens by just to score a kill is poor form. This isn't real life. You don't feel the bullets/tomahawks/tea-bagging so get out there and work, dang ye! :p

Well, for real camping, I'll let Jim Gaggigan answer for me.

For video game camping, it doesn't really bother me. If they get me, I generally get them when I respawn.

It sucks if you spawn in one area and you can't move out of that area, and they're totally spawn camping the hell out of you. If it's used for strategic purposes (Ie: Defending an objective), then I don't mind. If it's just for kills, then that's just annoying. I can't stand campers who just sit there and gather kills as people walk by.

In Combat Arms (which the spawns are random, and you have 3 seconds of invincibility) you can get spawn camped somewhat easily, but it's easy to rid of spawn campers since you have 3 seconds of invincibility after you spawn. A great measure against spawn campers and some games should use this (maybe only one or two seconds instead of three though.)

Camping could be considered fine under certain situations. I mean, what is the point of rushing in if it is just going to cause you to die without taking anyone with you? Spawn camping on the other hand; I can not abide with whatsoever.

Damn it. I wanted to make a witty joke about camping in the outdoors, but since I've been ninja'd I'll remain on topic.

There's a difference between sitting in a building for a few minutes, shooting someone as they run by, and then moving on to locking down one area and staying in it for the majority of the game. It's also damn detrimental to the flow of the game. The game will slow down severely, since everyone's too busy flipping each other off from the other side of the map. Sometimes, I can get quite upset, when I stumble into a camper's HQ and get my shins blown off. It's just annoying that someone's going to sit in a room the entire time. I understand that I can flank him in most cases, it's just damn irritating. But hell, these are just my nonsensical ramblings.

If you're defending an objective camp away! it's a big part of the defending. But in team death matches, where the objective is to run around and kill each other then, no it is not acceptable.

Basically this. There are different levels of camping, in my opinion, and some are more acceptable than others. Watching a high-traffic area or defending a strategic position against attackers? No problem, fine strategy. Choosing a well-concealed spot and picking off enemies with a sniper rifle? Hey, what else are you supposed to do with the thing?

Sitting in some random corner of the map, completely refusing to interact with anyone other than who happens to walk in front of you? That's just bad sportsmanship. And spawn camping borders on unfair, though I understand its importance in certain types of games as a winning strategy.
